CWG gives it a 50% chance of a delayed opening and a 25% chance of a closure.

2 hour delay with no childcare open and another apology from the superintendent.

Bold prediction: No matter what, DCUM will go cray-cray and have a meltdown

Bingo!!

Well that isn't hard to predict, OP. It ALWAYS happens. Whatever the decision from the schools, parents will ALWAYS be mad.

I'm betting an announced 2-hour delay which is then changed to closure.

I would just like them to announce at midnight rather than 5am. Earlier would also be better.

Guys, I’m going to be busy tomorrow, so I’m just going to lodge my complaints now.

Outrageous! Who’s making these decisions? This decision is far too risky/cautious! I can’t believe they called it so early/late! They obviously don’t care about the safety of students and employees/hate working parents! The county is too big! My streets were bone dry and hairdresser got 6” of snow. Growing up in Manitoba, we routinely drove to school 45 minutes after 3 feet of snow fell because we had enough snow plows. The people around here are wimps. Is it time to grab our pitchforks and come after Taylor yet?

So hilarious, these people complaining about high schools opening before child care will complain about anything!

No no no then people will complain that it’s announced too early and why are they getting text messages at midnight? Couldn’t they wait till at least 5 AM? They announce it too early and look, the forecast changed! They announced it too late at 5 AM! Boo-hoo, who how am I going to know about swim team practice?

This is all 100%......except each complaint takes at least 10 minutes to write (and more time is spent reading the threads) and ppl complain about MCPS not valuing their time

Multiple things can be true. It's true both that MCPS will get some complaints on winter weather says no matter what they do, and also that sometimes they make bad decisions that deserve criticism. Just because the first is true doesn't mean the second isn't, but people act like it sometimes.

+100,000

There is truly no excuse for their attitude towards childcare apparent in their recent decisions this year and last year. What kind of employer prohibits the childcare providers their own employees rely on but expect their schools to open?
