Black Ops for WSYL

Which of the three BO teams would you think is the stronger or better for developing the kids as they head into high school and their recruiting?

Doubt they even do it next year if it is back in Denver. Every other area has just the club teams do it as part of the normal summer tourney season, but since this area is rampant w holdbacks, BO and Monuments were formed to fall under guidelines.

As an example, my sons club team went and played about 5 years ago or so (He's a 21) cause they didn't have any kids that didn't qualify re age. Pretty simple.

Depends on the year and the player. All things being equal, go with the team that is better for that given year because that leads to more exposure on average. But that assumes your player would be highlighted on that team. Doesn’t really help to be on the top team if you don’t play. But in general, the following is a rough assessment of the years 24 and down since it’s probably too late for 22 and 23 to change at this point

24 - all three are good. NL probably strongest right now, but some might disagree.
25 - NL and DCE are best. VLC much weaker
26 - BLC and VLC are the better options now. Expect a lot of movement is this group this offseason though.
27 - NL by a wide margin.
28 - NL by a wide margin. No VLC team here.
29/30 -Too young to tell. BLC a little better than NL currently. No VLC team yet.

Good analysis and no attitude; rare on this thread. Where would you rank MadLax in each of those classes? I think it is fair to say that a good player looking at options should consider those four programs.

All the Madlax teams 24-28 are very good and are a good option for all those years. Mostly depends on whether the owner bothers you. He coaches 24 and 28 and has kids on those teams. 25-27 you probably don’t have that issue. Also Madlax is a much less good option if you are outside the top 16 or so players on that team. True everywhere but especially ML. Heard 27 has weird issues because of the BLC movement over the summer. But at least the top team is winning a lot of games so lots of talent there.

Does the ML owner have a 2026 son? I know that my son played against him while Maddux was coaching. Interesting that he is a 2024 and in HS while my true 2026 is in 7th grade.

In fact, I think he had 2 kids on that "2026" Madlax team

I am guessing his 24's were playing down then. It was when my son was in 4th grade at the Polo fields. Sounds about right for him to do. Best part is that we beat them Saturday, and lost on Sunday when a bunch of different kids showed up.

Small sample size, but BLC is the top 29 team, beat both NL and Cavs pretty easily last week.

The WSYL is supposed to be a club team tournament. Not an all star tournament of teams finalized 30 days before the qualifier.

I agree NIke and uA both have HS events to prove which area can make the best All Star team I think WSYL should just be clubs that are age based and play together not all star teams. If you are not age based there are many other events to play

The 2026 LI Express team has a Connecticut kid, and has plucked kids from all over the island for this tournament. They are entering 2 teams. That allows them to continue to add talent and then bump the bottom half to their B team who likely wont even advance though the qualifiers. 100 miles from LI covers quite a large area.

I'm sure he's making that commute 2-3 times a week for practice!!
