I don’t think so. She’s a smart girl. I think she got just the wake up call she needed and will be much more careful going forward. I think Mark knows he’d better stay away from her or her brothers will kill him (so to speak). |
Wow, relax. It’s a tv show. Is this how you would speak to someone in person who disagrees with your viewpoint? |
I really hope you don't think you can tell whether someone is an abuser based on appearance. |
It’s just been little offhand comments here and there and not part of any narrative. Even tween Kevin was putting cucumbers on his eyes! |
I’m the poster who said horrified. That was a bit of hyperbole, but he was also clearly concerned about his looks and aging, in the way pp just described. |
OP again of the horrified comment. Just wanted to add that this is one of those little things that makes Kevin such an endearing and surprisingly complex character. At the beginning of the series, he came off as shallow and vain, but then he has consistently surprised viewers with his humor, kindness, and depth. At that same time, he still is kind of vain. Most shows offer shallow characters such that they are either shallow and vain OR they are complex and less physically perfect. It is no accident that now in the 4th season, Kevin is the character who is still really enjoyable to watch. I loved Randall so much in the first season or two, but gosh he has gotten annoying. |
NP. Maybe step away from the computer. This is a television show we're discussing, nothing important. Relax.... |
Good point. This show does a good job in making them fully human and not caricatures. Yes, Randall is annoying and as much as I sympathize, some anxious people in real life can be so draining. |
But Kevin continually makes bad choices in this area. It's very on-brand for him. |
I binged most of the season this weekend - it's like you predicted the future!!
|
There have been several instances this season where different characters are trying to get Randall to go to therapy, most recently Kevin. Randall relies on Kevin to talk him down every time, ever since middle school with the shoes. And now Tess is having panic attacks. I think Kevin have a throw down over either and instance of another Randall meltdown or b/c of something with Tess/her anxiety. |
Agree. I have a good friend who has a special needs child at least on the level of a blind child, frankly probably more issues. She was able to accept the full range of her child's issues much more quickly than her husband and got to work navigating the issues. I would not say her husband ever expressed that he was sad he couldn't do X, Y, Z with their kid, but I remember her recounting a couple of really emotional reactions (crying) surrounding specific limitations and the fact that their son needs major surgery every year or two. |
Didn't Kate specifically link her eating/weight issues to her feeling like she caused her dad's death b/c of her dog? That would have been way back, but I feel like this is the case. I think the Mark (I want to spell it Marc, sounds more douche-y) storyline was partly a plot to introduce the cabin to us as something that had been around for the family for a long time. Had we seen any explanation of it before this episode? I also think it was symbolically when the family re-forms after Jack's death. |
Oh for Gods sake.

+1 Kevin is funny, insightful, kind, and yes - a little bit vain. Randall also annoys me now. His shtick has gotten old. |
