Help me understand Republican women in their 30s and 40s

Just continue the racism and sexism. What a winner of a strategy. It’s so discouraging to see Democrats embrace the worst of Republican strategies.

Listen to Republicans. It is all bigotry all the time. It’s all about protecting “us” (clannish white Christians) by kicking “them” (any and all who are not in the delusional cult). Trump, Speaker Johnson, Republican Governors, it’s all they do and say. Paranoid bigotry is their only message.

And yet the 4 African American male Republicans in Congress and the 1 African American male Republican in the Senate all were voted into office in districts with majority white people. I'm tired of being called a bigot.

On the contrary, as a white republican woman, no one is trying to terrify me about black men. Just this morning, I listened to an interview of a black man who is on the short list for Trump's VP-- one of two black men on the list. In general, black people tend to have value systems closer to white conservatives than white conservatives have to white progressives. Meaning, I find more in common with the average black man than with a white progressive women.

Fair point on the open border and massive expansion of the drag queen industrial complex. The possibilities are terrifying.

+100. I've listened to Tim Scott's youtube with his fellow AFrican American congressman at a round table. White Republican women have more in common with the average black man. Good schools, safety in communities, good economy, family values, inflation reigned in, are all in common. I have very little in common with white progressive women.

Republicans are the default opposition party if you think that Democrats are being too fake or too pandering or too exploitative.

+1 ...and don't forget their stupid book bans + burnings just like the Nazis

So are you okay with book banning when promoted by left-leaning school boards in blue states?

DP. I'm not okay with book banning, but you're comparing apples and oranges here.

The scope and extent of book bannings by conservatives has been far greater than that of liberals. Sure, there are a handful of examples that one could point to where some Democrat-led school board banned a book, typically because of outdated racist stereotypes or similar things, however those instances have been rare and localized.

Whereas, conservative book bans have been far more frequent, far more coordinated, systematic and organized, with entire lists of books they demand be banned, and extensive book-banning efforts being led at the state level. For example, Ron DeSantis compiling extensive lists of books to ban from all schools because they might deal with LGBTQ, race, and other "progressive" topics. Texas did a similar thing, with the state legislature compiling a list of 850 forbidden books to be removed from schools, to include books by Toni Morrison and others. Oklahoma and other conservative areas are also pursuing extensive and sweeping bans of books.

That's like going from the frying pan straight to the fire. It's like cutting your own nose off to spite your face. If you dislike Democrats for their behavior why side with a party that's objectively far worse on every measure? The better solution would be to go independent or find a third party that better suits you.

HOW are Republicans worse? Dems are always accusing Republicans of all manner of atrocity, like “destroying the country.” They seldom back up these claims with specifics.

Then you should stop supporting bigots.

Got it.

Posts like this make ME want to become a Republican.

—lifelong Dem

Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me that Republican *policy* isn't geared towards denying women (and only women) reproductive freedom. And it's not just abortion - they're going after contraception as well. And the cherry on top is that they are proposing PUNISHMENT for having an abortion.

And spare me the lecture about immigration being a national security issue - if it was truly that, the GOP I used to know would have shut that shit off years ago. But Republicans don't want to solve the issue; it's too valuable to them as a wedge issue for political advantage. It's all dog whistles, and barely disguised ones at that.

The way I see it, any woman of reproductive age who still votes Republican is just like a Log Cabin Republican - willing to trade their entire identity for absolutely nothing.

How ‘bout I tell you instead that the holier-than-thou righteousness of the left is extraordinarily unappealing, even to people who pretty much agree with you?

Yuck

Are we not all stuck with these abortion bans because of holier than thou righteousness? Talk about unappealing.

NP- I'm an independent and I don't understand how people are still affiliated considering the disgusting rhetoric and lack of respect of both parties. It's not productive, and really only helps the vilest politicians on both sides to gain traction, and the press/media/social media when people gobble up divisive crap. I'm a reluctant Biden voter, but so tired of people not focusing on what they can agree on to just hurl insults at each other. The reality is most women, including republican women, are pro choice or hold some nuanced view of abortion, opposing bans. None of them will be convinced to vote Biden through ad-hominem attacks.

I don't like ad hominem attacks either, but if the ability to make your own health care decisions is something someone values at all, then how does that person vote in favor of a person and a party that are actively working to take that away? I do not get that.

To be blunt? Some of us don’t sleep around so a need for an abortion is not the driving force in our lives.

Really doubt that this post is made by a woman that has carried pregnancies and birthed babies. Poster after poster is pointing out all the things that go sideways with human reproduction. You just sound ignorant, inexperienced, and aggressively judgy about issues that have zero to do with sleeping around.

How many babies have you birthed? Any miscarriages? Fertility issues? Rapes? Fetal abnormalities?

2 kids
Multiple miscarriages at various stages
Minor age-related fertility isssues
No rapes
No fetal abnormalities

I am republican woman, 2 kids, 2 miscarriages, no major fertility issues, no rapes, no fetal abnormalities. I see more liberal woman with fetal abnormality and wondering if god telling them something.

What kind of person believes in a deity that causes misfortune to people who disagree with them politically?

God does not causes misfortune. He tells people not to kill, and if you proceed and kill the baby, then misfortune will falls on you. The God's words apply equally to all political spectrums, look at Biden's children.

So what does God think of His followers buying hollow-point ammunition?

And mass shootings are God's will. Too bad for those Uvalde kids.

No one finds this rhetoric persuasive.

May those little ones rest in peace.

It's pretty persuasive. I wonder what God thinks of you for not being persuaded.

I don't use dead children to antagonize strangers. Look up the Ulvade shooter. He wasn't a Republican. And you know what we didn't have when the nation had intact families and were raised with values? School shootings and widespread violence. You think the issue is guns. But the data shows that violence rose with the welfare state, which replaced fathers, churches, etc. I'm certain God approves of my choice not to take the death of children in vain. You've obviously had no dead children in your family.

This is why democrats will lose. A quick skim of this thread puts to rest the farce that the left attracts educated people. The complexity and coherence of the leftist argumentation on the last 2 pages should be embarrassing to anyone foolish enough to continue to identify as progressive.

Yeah, we didn't have automatic weapons when families were "raised with values", either. Values got thrown out the window when automatic weapons were legalized by republicans. Guns were more important than "values".

Automatic weapons have existed since the 1700s. Fully automatic since the 1800s. Read history.

Call it what you want. Republicans made school shootings possible. They think guns are more important than "values". You can't prezel logic your way out that fact. And God is judging you for it.

I can. You responded to my post that my points were irrelevant since Republicans recently legalized automatic weapons. That's completely incorrect. For most of American history, automatic weapons have been legal, yet school shootings are a recent phenomenon. It suggests that your single factor analysis, per usual, is baseless.

You can only legally own a fully auto weapon if you have the proper federal permit, which most gun owners do not possess.

However, there's a current Republican-driven SCOTUS case pending imminent decision, which would legalize bump stocks and similar devices which essentially turn a whole range of guns into rapid-fire death machines equivalent to full-auto rate of fire, except with less control and a whole lot more chaotic and uncontrollable spraying of bullets. Sure, that will make America safer, Republicans.

Citation that most gun owners do not have proper permits, please.

Check ATF. Purchasing and owning a fully automatic weapon is legal but is not the same as purchasing and owning a conventional gun. There is a more rigorous background check, which takes much longer than a standard background check. Their usage is restricted, for example a full auto rifle may not be used for hunting. ALL transfers of full auto rifles must be approved by ATF, whereas this is not the case for private sales of conventional guns. Full auto rifles are required to be registered with ATF, whereas registration of conventional guns varies by jurisdiction. There is a $200 transfer tax for full auto rifles, but not for conventional guns. Over 80 million Americans own conventional guns whereas less than 1% of American gun owners have gone through the process to legally own a full auto rifle.

4473 for a regular gun just does a basic NICS background check which typically comes back within a few minutes, or if there are more complex things 3 business days.
ATF Form 4 requires fingerprints, photos and is a lot more thorough of a background check, and that typically takes months to investigate and process.

They are definitely not the same.

"Objectively."

Like how the Republican presidential candidate is objectively more cognitively impaired that the Democratic candidate?

Like how the Republican candidate objectively puts us at greater risk of nuclear war than the Democratic candidate?

Some might consider asking someone to vote third party as a request not to vote. Yes, I have voted third party, by the way.

Are you serious? I constantly see posters not only pointing out the details and specifics of Republicans bad policy and behavior but they are far more likely to actually bring the receipts with links than the resident DCUM conservatives are. Instead, I think you choose to not see, or baselessly dismiss anything inconvenient to your internal narrative.

Are you conveniently forgetting all the emotional appeals to imaginary grievances about CRT, Affirmative Action, banning books written by Black authors or offering Black perspectives, and all the paranoid racial stereotypes about crime, welfare, drugs, etc.?

It is coming again soon. Every election year the Republicans’ closing argument to suburban women is that they will protect your children and your neighborhoods and your schools by keeping Blacks and Hispanics away. Republicans are the “put them back in their place” party. As a Republican woman, that is what you vote for.

Your side ROUTINELY levels specific accusations at anyone who disagrees with them of being communists, of supporting gun confiscation, of being anti-capitalist and opposing private ownership of property, accuses them of burning down cities, being anti-semites, misogynists, and whatever else, regardless of any objective facts to back any of it up. Along with draining everyone's IQ with the stupidity of the whole host of wild right wing conspiracy theories about how Trump won but had it stolen from him via a massive fraud operation, about how J6 was actually "Antifa" and "Feds" and a bunch of America-loving grandmas were falsely arrested for nothing more than being waved in by security guards, and that the deaths of 5 Capitol Police within days of the attack had absolutely nothing to do with J6. And that Donald Trump is an honest man who didn't break any laws but instead has been the subject of a massive baseless witch hunt. Republicans don't even know the meaning of the word "objective"

DP. The PP is correct. We have DCUM liberals writing unhinged screeds about Project 2025 that bear no resemblance to reality. When called on it, they hastily disappear without producing any links to back up their lies. Republicans constantly produce citations in response to the idiocy spewed by Democrats. The reverse is usually not true.
