you could say the same thing about parents who describe their kids school as the BIG 3 or BIG 4.

I bet you are one of those......

One of the issues with lacrosse is TOO MUCH parenting. I've never seen so many dads present at any of the other sporting events my kids participate in. Dads not providing quiet support, mind you. Lots of screaming and sideline coaching. Very engaged dads who can do little to mask the fact that they're reliving their glory days.

Have you followed college lacrosse? There is parity everywhere... the same applies to the DC region. Every year the DC region has a team that is top 5 nationally.

3 years ago it was Prep in 2014
2 years ago it was Landon in 2015
Last year both Bullis and Gonzaga were the top dogs.
This year, Landon appears to be very good but it's too early to crown them anything.

I can't predict the future but I can assure some of those early recruits at Prep will not pan out by the time they are juniors or seniors.

Bullis has by far the best player in the entire state of Maryland right now, they will drop next year after he graduates. I don't care how many senior transfers they bring in - Trippi might be one of the best players this area in the past decade.

I agree that Trippi is an outstanding player and likely will be in college. As for the young talent at Prep, some certainly may not pan out at the high school level, but most will contribute. The real question is whether all the kids will pan out in college—especially the early commits.

Update--
Gonzaga is slowly dropping down -- lost their senior players, major component of their success. Guess they did not have shoes to fill them. ...Kinda feel bad.
Bullis stays strong. Trippi is breaking records. Winning awards. See WAPO articles. Heading to UNC in the fall. Wish he was heading to Terps Talk about a powerhouse....

Prep is on its way back. They are 8-0

I am the PP who used the "highly respected" phrase. I was actually not referring to the school but the team. Sorry for the confusion. We are not at a big anything.

Landon is now #1 in US according to this week's Lacrosse Magazine rankings. May be short lived though--Landon plays Severn tonight and they have a fantastic team that is ranked in top twenty nationally. And big showdown with Bullis (#7) next week. DC has some great teams when you throw in Prep and Gonzaga.

DC area is loaded with lacrosse talent.

Landon, Prep, Bullis, Gonzaga, even Paul VI and St Johns are much improved this Spring.

7-0, not 8-0 and they play Gonzaga at Gonzaga today.

I didn't know Severn was considered the DC area. They are apparently LOADED this year and are expected to contend in the MIAA this Spring.
Landon is going to have its hands full this afternoon.

Gonzaga should and will beat Prep today by a wide margin.

Wow. That should be a helluva game. And Landon v Severn?

Whether Prep is revived and Zaga is declining should be answered today.

If Landon wins, they'll be hard to displace from 1st place in the nation.

Someone post some halftime and finals scores. Some of the best high school lacrosse anywhere, and I'm tied up at work today unfortunately.

I see both games going down to wire. GZ is way down this year after graduating one of the strongest classes ever in DC area. Prep is young but has some talent especially the poles. Landon is stacked this year and next, while Severn may have their best team ever. And Paul VI is very strong this year too and SJC is much improved too. Some great lacrosse in DMV and Baltimore/Annapolis.

McDonogh is reigning MIAA champ and looks to be on top of the pack again this year - handled Bullis easily last week. And Culver Academy (Indiana) took care of McDonogh before that. Gonzaga gave Boys' Latin all they could handle, but came up short vs. the MIAA.

The two best teams - by far - are Hill Academy (in Ontario) and Culver. Not really fair, since they are both lacrosse academics stocking their teams with Canadian all-stars, but they are the best.

Well, Culver has already lost to Haverford this year but Hill may be the best Prep/HS team in the world (but not in US).
