Couldn’t be. Republicans swore Social Security & Medicare were not anything they would be willing to cut. They were very indignant during the State of the Union at the mere suggestion. |
Should I start stockpiling TP again? |
And Republicans ABSOLUTELY NEVER lie, do they? Only every time they speak. |
Republicans have been trying to cut SS and Medicare for decades. I mean, if republicans want to ruin the economy rather than coming to an agreement with concessions for both parties, well that's on them. |
It doesn't say he wants to crash the economy. You are making a false assumption about the result of no debt ceiling increase. What really crashes the economy is the government borrowing trillions of dollars every year. With inflation, interest rates are rising to a point where the government will have to pay $2 trillion a year in interest payments on the debt, and growing. |
Biden increased spending with his student loan forgiveness. Why should Republicans just agree to that? |
What do republicans think will happen if their insane budget gets passed? It would cause an immediate recession. Is that what they want? And I’m not asking rhetorically. Causing a recession to own the libs is one explanation but I really believe these morons have no idea what they’re doing. They believe their own BS. |
That is entirely separate from the debt ceiling increase. The only question in the debt ceiling is whether the US government will default on Treasury securities that have already been bought and are soon due with interest. The budget and appropriations are different procedures and different legislation. You also are incorrect. The loan forgiveness, which currently is not in effect as it is help up by dubious legal action, would reduce future revenues from loan repayments but the loan funds have already been paid, so it’s not much new spending. According to Republicans, cutting revenues doesn’t count as real money. |
No, it is about whether the government will borrow more money. They already have the authorization to pay on bonds. |
What do Democrats think will happen with trillions of dollars in deficits every year, with trillions more to come from higher interest rates? I know they promote this Modern Monetary Theory that the government can spend a lot, but do they really believe this? |
So. You believe your own BS then. What makes you believe we need austerity right now? |
Republicans and their useful idiots.
We were complicit in decades of overspending - let's cut veterans' benefits and child nutritional assistance or burn down the economy. ![]() |
If republicans think there’s a lot of social unrest and crime out there now, just wait until there’s 10% unemployment. Crazy or dumb or both. I just can’t make sense of any of this anymore.
|
That works to their benefit...create more fear, sell more guns, blame the dems for crime, repeat. |
