The only question in the debt ceiling is whether the US government will default on Treasury securities that have already been bought and are soon due with interest. The budget and appropriations are different procedures and different legislation. You also are incorrect. The loan forgiveness, which currently is not in effect as it is help up by dubious legal action, would reduce future revenues from loan repayments but the loan funds have already been paid, so it’s not much new spending. According to Republicans, cutting revenues doesn’t count as real money. [/quote]
