Ah yes, let's let the Senate pass a clean spending bill or perhaps one that cuts military spending by 25%, gets rid of the Bush and Trump tax cuts, makes capital gains taxes for those making more than $400K equal to the income tax, and eliminate the cap on social security payments. We'd be rolling in revenue and be able to fund ALL of President's priorities.

Lastly, don't think for a sec that if the shoe is on the foot, that Democrats won't decide to flip the script next time the debt limit is reached. We default. We go into a recession. If Republicans win the white house, then Democrats will happily hold the debt ceiling hostage to their wish list of demands. Careful what you wish for, PP. No, they've never done this. They've acted in good faith under Republican Presidents and passed clean debt resolutions. Every. Single. Time. However, if the Republicans want to hold the country hostage and play brinksmanship with the economy in exchange for its wishlist, who's to stop the Democrats from doing so the next time a Republican is in the White House? Why wouldn't they? I would think the gloves come off once it's clear that the Republicans no longer ever negotiate in good faith.[/quote]
