Yea, my uncle bought into diversity. He changed his mind when her daughter, my cousin, got pregnant at 16 and dropped out of high school. My cousin divorced from her first husband, two kids in tow, and is now married again with a stable and happy life.

What does diversity have to do with your cousin not using birth control? Were they religious nutters or something?

On average, URMs have fewer opportunities and resources to prepare for college, etc. They also face additional hurdles from systematic racism.

I could see if black students were passing their boards or the bar, but they are, which means that once they get in, they have the intelligence to compete.

Who exactly is “obsessed” with AA and ethnic studies?

What measurable impact does AA have? Positive and negative so we know the full picture.

And you think ethnic studies is displacing engineering? How so?

Have you been paying attention? Elite colleges like Stanford is so focused on AA that they admit URM students into their Physics major who are unable to successfully complete freshman year Physics classes. The impact is that they denied entry to other more qualified candidates who would have had no problem meeting these basic performance standards. They are also wasting resources constructing remedial courses for these unqualified students, instead of spending that money on research and other more worthwhile endeavors. Why is their physics department putting up a course called Diverse Perspectives in Physics. Where in the variable or constant representing diversity in any physics equation?

The lesson is that diversity for diversity's sake is not a good position to hold. The true measure of a person is the value he/she holds, not the skin color or ethnic group they belong to. Asian Americans are literally ignored and marginalized (look at Yang polling 6th nationally but ignored and excluded by the media as 15th in media coverage). Why is it a smaller minority group with language problem, lack of political power, and openly discriminated against in college admissions/jobs doing relatively well economically compared to Hispanics/blacks?

By definition, AA policies applied to competition for limited resources is taking something away from an otherwise qualified candidate who got bumped due to having the wrong skin color. If people are truly entitled to squat, why are there AA policies that say URMs are entitled to preferential treatment?
