| I've never understood how someone could juggle the time and financial demands of a double life. It seems like it's usually men that do it. Probably because women don't have time or energy to take care of two families and households. |
Finding out your life was a rouse and who you are with and what you imagined was not real. Been there. It is so traumatic, it causes almost a psychotic break. It’s almost impossible to reorient. You can’t trust anything ever again. My brain literally hurts as it tries to repiece things, look for missing puzzle pieces and never getting the answer to “why”. Was any of it real? |
Kuralt's mistress had the luxury of living a lie outright. Nasty little thing. They psychologically killed the wife who had to discover 30 years of her life was a complete lie and that her husband was a con artist. |
“ It says that this country is quick to romanticize betrayal -- especially if the betrayer is a celebrity -- and quicker still to shortchange an already cheated wife.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sfgate.com/opinion/saunders/amp/Kicking-The-Widow-Kuralt-3317023.php |
Kuralt went to great lengths to keep his relationship with Shannon a secret and to maintain his double life with two different partners. He was so successful that Mrs. Kuralt did not learn of Shannon's existence until her husband's funeral, the judge said. After 2 decades the mistress finally conceded he would never divorce or leave his wife. Wtf? Why in the hell would somebody want two different families? He acted like a father and wrote letters to the mistress’ children and paid their tuition. Mistress obviously was in it for the $$$$, but him? What a lot of work to keep bicoastal families. |
62?? no way...wow!
Also, I had zero idea about his double life. Disappointing for sure. |
| Can be as simple as wanting to have your your cake and eat it, too. (Chump Lady talks about this a lot in terms of cheaters). Some things benefit the cheater from the first life, while other things benefit the cheater from the "double" life. If the benefits outweigh the negatives, it's working well, from the cheater's perspective. |
Not the op but why is there always someone like you who thinks the op has a grudge? Just STFU! |
+100 I always admired Kuralt’s professional career. Many times as a youth, I wondered how I could get a job solving mysteries while driving around the country in an RV. |
He wasn’t the biological father? |

People are willing to go far. I’m alone of duty, that is one thing. However exploiting the nature of your work - to get your rocks off - that is sociopathic adi guess part of the job.
I want no parts of either. I’d rather bring a knowing sister wife than in the complete dark. People do it because they can. The betrayal made my heart feel like it was literally breaking, it can cause a psychotic break, it is a cruel psychological manipulation to innocent people. It’s a lie. No matter What for. It’s a lie. If shit smearing trumpers are worth the lie to uou — okay. I’ll just go die in a corner now and rock myself into crazy while I make sense of it all. |
No. She already had 3 kids when he met her. He had bio kids with his legitimate wife |
Me too, but I was thinking more along the lines of Scooby do. |
+1 Someone is paranoid. |
+1 Wonder what trauma someone must have to think lying, cheating, stealing, etc. is "normal" or "acceptable". Is their entire life a lie? Is their entire life about appearances? How sad for all involved. Do these kinds of people ever get healthy? Do the spouses sometimes go along with the dishonest behavior? Seems beyond exhausting, especially if they think that no one knows - but in reality, everyone knows. Do they care if everyone knows? Or do they think they are above everything (ie: no soul, no conscience, nothing in their life is really real)? Fascinating. |
