28 years ago - it was RICH. Today it is - COMFORTABLE. If you cannot live well on 120K. There is something wrong in your entitlement or financial wisdom. |
There is something very wrong with your financial understanding or you live somewhere very cheap. Try asking ChatGPT if you can live well on $120k hhi in any major metro area with kids and save and have vacations and pay for their college |

So then it's either be dumb yourself or married to a dumb man. I'll take mental degradation! |
Bolded tells us everything we need to know about you and how much value to place on your contributions to this conversation. |
Regardless of how terrible you are with your personal finances, 120k is still not an entry-level salary as you claimed. |
In nyc advertising world (which isn’t even the most remunerative) entry level is $60-$85 (straight out of college) and $85 - $125 is the next rung up - mostly folks in their mid to sometimes late 20s with no kids. No one was at that level that I worked with past the age of 30. |
Pick your source - up to you if you want to work harder for the same info. Also, you realize chatgpt collates sources and gives you links to the sources, right? |
Imagine thinking you’ll get into heaven as a raging misogynist but a single woman won’t if she’s had sex. |
We lived very well on less than that. Saved for college, retirement and more. It’s lifestyle choices. Now we make a little more but never changed our lifestyle but to pay off the house. |

Hilarious. “Rely” autocorrected to “really”. They’re both words so of course the algorithm says all is well! This error further illustrates my point. |
Sure, hun. |
No cats, vet bills require a 300l salary. I heard snakes are cheaper as pets. |

There is no right answer and it's ok to have different opinions and values and for some of us, hangups. I am happily a sahm now, but would choose any option that brought in 1m, but for strictly financial reasons and not the fear of divorce, sense of independence, work fulfillment or other reasons listed. I don't have those fears of not working and I don't cherish the benefits sahm life bestows as highly as others either.
I admit it's short sighted, as I don't think I could last long under the conditions that I've seen 1m salary requires. If I could land over 250k I'd go to work right now. |
