JD and Usha

There is no evidence that Usha is a good person. Period. She is just another opportunistic b who cast aside her principles and hitched herself to the Trump wagon to get ahead. I hope she finds herself in the same position as “Mother” Pence.

Usha definitely profited from DEI so why is she still around?

Actually, Vance definitely benefitted from DEI.

DEI (TM) wasn’t invented until 2020, years after Vance got into Yale.

Not all programs that expand access to underrepresented groups are DEI (TM) and DEI (TM) did not reach all underrepresented groups. In particular, DEI (TM) favored a worldview where privilege was measured by skin color, gender, and status as a sexual minority and almost completely ignored the actual current driver of inequality in our society which is money, class, and what kind of family you were born into.

(I put the TMs to mean Trademark, because so many people on this board do not understand the difference between the program invented in 2020 vs. actual diversity, equity, and inclusion. Sorry if it’s lame.)

LOL, you're lame. These programs were not invented in 2020, there was simply a deepening of the commitment by institutions to these values in the wake of George Floyd's death. There isn't some "before" time and "after" time in this work.

blather blather blather.

JD Vance sold his soul and Usha is along for the ride. She looks miserable (she has a conscience or some sense of perspective).

The only thing I feel slightly sorry for is that in this ultra prejudiced country, they will receive more hate than the bigger villains because they are nerds, she is non-white and a woman, he has a resting smarmy face, etc. IMO they should be far down on the list of most hated, but still. They are complicit. They are part of the problem. They violated their principles to gain power. No sympathy for either.

The truth is..... they are both decent people who are smart and ambitious.
They simply vote differently than you and are on the opposite of the aisle.
Your hate overrides your reasoning.

That doesn't explain Vance's complete reversal from Never Trumper.

+1

That 180 didn't come out of the blue. He was radicalized. This article outlines the people who influenced his transition to the new alt-right. These people are all anti-liberals who don't believe in democracy and want to replace it with some other form of government:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/07/18/jd-vance-world-view-sources-00168984

Quote from the article:

"As Vance himself confessed earlier this year, he is 'plugged into a lot of weird, right-wing subcultures.' His transition from Never-Trump conservative to MAGA firebrand was influenced by his relationships with a handful of niche conservative writers and thinkers. Among them are people who push for post-liberal regime change, some who pine for the cultural conservatism of Viktor Orbán’s Hungary, and one outright monarchist. This cohort espouses a variety of sometimes competing viewpoints, but they are bound together by the belief that the liberal project of 'progress' — especially in the form of economic liberalization, technological advancement and the leveling of social hierarchies — has in fact been a mistake."

Vance is weak and is always looking for validation. It’s common when you’ve never had a parent love you.

Usha Vance profited from parents who raised her well, working hard throughout her academic life and creating a strong career. It is weak white women who couldn’t compete with her who profited from DEI. How else could they have gotten into law school so that they could snag a high earner and become a SAHM.

Believe it or not, there are white women who have parents who raised them well, worked hard and earned their way to law school. And most of them have careers.

Sure. But she's the one who laid down with the dogs and now is upset at having all the fleas.

+1 She said to "listen to him" when he made the comment about Haitians eating pets. No, I don't think she's decent.

Nobody decent would stand by that "man".

A man is a male person. There are good ones and bad ones. There’s no need to use quotations.

They will go down for their part in this, but what about the children? Do they have a caregiver who can whisk them away?

Vance will easily beat any Democratic challenger. So would any of ten possible Trump successors. Democrats, especially upper middle class ones who think we are “good people” merely due to our party affiliation, still don’t understand what has happened. Our party has imploded. Corporate America changed sides. The donor class changed sides. Now Trump is cutting off our ability to use taxpayer funds for ANY kind of political activism. We aren’t going to win again for decades.

We’re in the after times now. Future Dem candidates won’t be able to campaign on continuing the status quo of affirmative action. They’ll have to either let it go, or campaign on reinstating it. It’s an uphill battle. It’s unpopular.

It's not so much lame as misleading, since DEI a diversity equity and inclusion is not trademarked (the acronym is used in other trademarks including Dale Earnhardt Inc.

Wikipedia:
Diversity refers to the presence of variety within the organizational workforce in characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture, class, veteran status, or religion.[2][12] Equity refers to concepts of fairness and justice, such as fair compensation and substantive equality.[12] More specifically, equity usually also includes a focus on societal disparities and allocating resources and "decision making authority to groups that have historically been disadvantaged",[13] and taking "into consideration a person's unique circumstances, adjusting treatment accordingly so that the end result is equal."[2] Finally, inclusion refers to creating an organizational culture that creates an experience where "all employees feel their voices will be heard",[2] and a sense of belonging and integration.[12][14]

For example, among urls disappeared by the govt in its initial sweep of DEI programs was reports by NOAA regarding low-income coastal flooding areas, because historically low income communities are less protected against floods and less able to recover. (I was poking around usaspending.gov when I discovered this, the archive showed it was active until Jan 20).

But he said he will make up stories to tell people to get what he wants.
“ If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

No. I don’t see how you can say that is okay. Lying to anyone to get what you want is just wrong. Ask any embezzler or criminal.

A husband and wife usually have same set of values, they wouldn't have married if they didn't share similar values, couples can have many differences but values usually align. Usha is an equally opportunistic, power hungry and a despicable human being as her husband, there is no argument on this one.

The truth is …. Just a few years back JD said he couldn’t stand Trump, he said he was a fraud , exploiting people he doesn’t care about. That’s JD opinion. Trump hasn’t changed. In fact Trump confirmed he’s a fraud when he was convicted of it along with many other charges.

JD said he was afraid of Trump because of his treatment of immigrants, he found Trump reprehensible. In fact Trump has gotten bolder and nastier with immigrants.

So he swallowed any of that decency he might have had and paired with a fraud, a guy who exploits people and doesn’t care about the MAGAs, he paired up with a known piece of shit just to further his career.
