JD and Usha

Actually JD and Usha are worse than Trump, Trump at least made no pretense of being a decent person, these two however chucked their supposed decency at a mere chance of power. So, basically they stand for nothing, they will sway whichever way benefits them.

Democrats, especially upper middle class ones who think we are “good people” merely due to our party affiliation, still don’t understand what has happened. Our party has imploded. Corporate America changed sides. The donor class changed sides. Now Trump is cutting off our ability to use taxpayer funds for ANY kind of political activism. We aren’t going to win again for decades.

JD on the other hand is a d-bag with zero principles or allegiance to any causes. He saw through Trump and knew he would be bad for the country.

During Trump’s first election Vance said these things and many more:

“I cannot stand Trump because I think he’s a fraud…I think he’s a total fraud that is exploiting these people…. I don’t think he actually cares about folks.”

: “Trump makes people I care about afraid. Immigrants, Muslims, etc. Because of this I find him reprehensible. God wants better of us.”

These comments are spot on. 100% accurate based on Trump’s over 60 years of being in the public eye.

Trump didn’t find God and change into someone who cares about folks, he didn’t stop exploiting people, people are even more afraid now that he’s ignoring the courts.

Do people think Vance has a chance at the presidency?

Republicans have shown they have no integrity. And would vote for a rapist and felon, and someone who has abused the working class his entire business life, over a black woman. So does he have a chance? Unfortunately, the answer is yes.

JD Vance sold his soul and Usha is along for the ride. She looks miserable (she has a conscience or some sense of perspective).

The only thing I feel slightly sorry for is that in this ultra prejudiced country, they will receive more hate than the bigger villains because they are nerds, she is non-white and a woman, he has a resting smarmy face, etc. IMO they should be far down on the list of most hated, but still. They are complicit. They are part of the problem. They violated their principles to gain power. No sympathy for either.

The truth is..... they are both decent people who are smart and ambitious.
They simply vote differently than you and are on the opposite of the aisle.
Your hate overrides your reasoning.

Usha definitely profited from DEI so why is she still around?

Actually, Vance definitely benefitted from DEI.

DEI (TM) wasn’t invented until 2020, years after Vance got into Yale.

Not all programs that expand access to underrepresented groups are DEI (TM) and DEI (TM) did not reach all underrepresented groups. In particular, DEI (TM) favored a worldview where privilege was measured by skin color, gender, and status as a sexual minority and almost completely ignored the actual current driver of inequality in our society which is money, class, and what kind of family you were born into.

(I put the TMs to mean Trademark, because so many people on this board do not understand the difference between the program invented in 2020 vs. actual diversity, equity, and inclusion. Sorry if it’s lame.)

LOL, you're lame. These programs were not invented in 2020, there was simply a deepening of the commitment by institutions to these values in the wake of George Floyd's death. There isn't some "before" time and "after" time in this work.

blather blather blather.

Then why are you peeps so up in arms about DEI getting canceled?

Because you dumba$$es don't know what DEI is. It's not individual hiring decisions and quotas. It's outreach, removing barriers, and training. Why are you so opposed to that? Unless you are some mediocre white person, or an ahole, or both, you shouldn't be.

Usha Vance profited from parents who raised her well, working hard throughout her academic life and creating a strong career. It is weak white women who couldn’t compete with her who profited from DEI. How else could they have gotten into law school so that they could snag a high earner and become a SAHM.

Sure. But she's the one who laid down with the dogs and now is upset at having all the fleas.

+1 She said to "listen to him" when he made the comment about Haitians eating pets. No, I don't think she's decent.

Nobody decent would stand by that "man".

A man is a male person. There are good ones and bad ones. There’s no need to use quotations.

Yes, per an executive order from so-called "man" Donald Trump, there are now only men and women, so anyone male is a "man". But I refuse to pollute the meaning of the word that way. A man holds his own, does what's right, wouldn't throw away his integrity for some mess...

JD Vance is a "man" but not a man.

You need to have a spine to be a man.

But he said he will make up stories to tell people to get what he wants.
“ If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

No. I don’t see how you can say that is okay. Lying to anyone to get what you want is just wrong. Ask any embezzler or criminal.

+1 And she said to "listen to what he's saying". #complicit

Only a crook and ahole lawyer would think it's ok to lie like that.

We’re in the after times now. Future Dem candidates won’t be able to campaign on continuing the status quo of affirmative action. They’ll have to either let it go, or campaign on reinstating it. It’s an uphill battle. It’s unpopular.

I don't know. After the "white man" constituency showed their true colors, every other gender and race is horrifically appalled.

After Biden and Trump, the diverse range of Americans might finally come together and give the white men the Great Replacement they've been crying about.

I don’t know but you have to wonder how they’ll feel the first time one of their sons faces racism in America. Yelling at them to “go home”

The truth is …. Just a few years back JD said he couldn’t stand Trump, he said he was a fraud , exploiting people he doesn’t care about. That’s JD opinion. Trump hasn’t changed. In fact Trump confirmed he’s a fraud when he was convicted of it along with many other charges.

JD said he was afraid of Trump because of his treatment of immigrants, he found Trump reprehensible. In fact Trump has gotten bolder and nastier with immigrants.

So he swallowed any of that decency he might have had and paired with a fraud, a guy who exploits people and doesn’t care about the MAGAs, he paired up with a known piece of shit just to further his career.

And yet his career will go no further. When asked whether he saw JD as his successor, Trump couldn't say no fast enough or emphatically enough. This is a dead end job for JD so he sold his soul to live in the VP's residence for 4 (maybe, we'll see) years and get to act like a petulant child on tv.

No, it’s not lame, and I appreciate the distinctions — even though I chose to go with Republican shortcut of the moment in making the comment that you responded to.

(Also, DEIA (Accessibility) is also often used too, although it doesn’t seem relevant here.)

My general point, though, is that being from an underrepresented state, having a military background, and possibly having a compelling backstory undoubtedly helped Vance get admitted to YLS — over other equally competent potential students.
While I’ve no idea what got Usha into Yale College, my guess is that as a Yale College grad applying to YLS, her merits as a student would have been well known.
