JD and Usha

Oh, on the presidency: NO. The WSJ hates him, and will be impossible to repair ties with our neighbors and allies until he is far from Washington.

Usha definitely profited from DEI so why is she still around?

Actually, Vance definitely benefitted from DEI.

DEI (TM) wasn’t invented until 2020, years after Vance got into Yale.

Not all programs that expand access to underrepresented groups are DEI (TM) and DEI (TM) did not reach all underrepresented groups. In particular, DEI (TM) favored a worldview where privilege was measured by skin color, gender, and status as a sexual minority and almost completely ignored the actual current driver of inequality in our society which is money, class, and what kind of family you were born into.

(I put the TMs to mean Trademark, because so many people on this board do not understand the difference between the program invented in 2020 vs. actual diversity, equity, and inclusion. Sorry if it’s lame.)

Oh my God, Vance was obviously a diversity higher whatever you call the program that drove it.

He was a subpar candidate who got in as a way to build a class that was more diverse. Just because you have some weird hang up about gender doesn’t change that fact.

I’m confused. Are you for or against admitting “subpar” candidates in order to build a more diverse class?

Your post seems obtuse. It very much matters what program drove the decision. DEI (TM) is highly race focused, followed by other identity categories, but did not address class in any direct way.

Usha Vance profited from parents who raised her well, working hard throughout her academic life and creating a strong career. It is weak white women who couldn’t compete with her who profited from DEI. How else could they have gotten into law school so that they could snag a high earner and become a SAHM.

Sure. But she's the one who laid down with the dogs and now is upset at having all the fleas.

+1 She said to "listen to him" when he made the comment about Haitians eating pets. No, I don't think she's decent.

Vance is too far in his cups to stand a chance at the presidency unless Trump dies, like, next week. By the time Trump's done, Vance will be pickled. Usha is a grifter who will go along with anything, which is why she loves JD.

Nobody whose values are so malleable should be trusted to do anything serious, let alone important. The only reason they got as high up as they have is that MAGA bought Trump's grift and the vances kissed enough backside to ride coattails. Neither of these people on their own have what it takes to run successfully.

And he'll be way to drunk in 3ish years to run anything but his mouth.

Nobody decent would stand by that "man".

Why do people want to romanticize her? People did this with Melania in the first term. But guess what? She likes what her husband is doing and likes the power and money. She’s no more a hostage than Melania. They both know the crap they crawl into bed with nightly and they like it.

Trump has fleas, ticks, and mange and has spread all three to everyone who comes near him

Didn’t we have these post about Melania back in the day to discover she’s just as bad. Usha is complicit. Period

She just someone who grew up with a caste system, of course she supports all this.

JD on the other hand is a d-bag with zero principles or allegiance to any causes. He saw through Trump and knew he would be bad for the country.

During Trump’s first election Vance said these things and many more:

“I cannot stand Trump because I think he’s a fraud…I think he’s a total fraud that is exploiting these people…. I don’t think he actually cares about folks.”

: “Trump makes people I care about afraid. Immigrants, Muslims, etc. Because of this I find him reprehensible. God wants better of us.”

These comments are spot on. 100% accurate based on Trump’s over 60 years of being in the public eye.

Trump didn’t find God and change into someone who cares about folks, he didn’t stop exploiting people, people are even more afraid now that he’s ignoring the courts.

Do people think Vance has a chance at the presidency?

Maybe she did at one time, but that would have been a long time ago. She has made plenty of choices since then. You don't think she's responsible for the outcomes of her choices?

I think she is passively doing what she’s supposed to be doing as the VP wife but like Melanie she has to come to loathe her husband. She’s just better at hiding it.

She qualified for her clerkship at the Supreme Court. There were 100 White men and women who also qualified. She came out ahead because of DEI. You can’t claim DEI is bad and deny that the few minorities on the republican side were somehow different.

JD Vance sold his soul and Usha is along for the ride. She looks miserable (she has a conscience or some sense of perspective).

The only thing I feel slightly sorry for is that in this ultra prejudiced country, they will receive more hate than the bigger villains because they are nerds, she is non-white and a woman, he has a resting smarmy face, etc. IMO they should be far down on the list of most hated, but still. They are complicit. They are part of the problem. They violated their principles to gain power. No sympathy for either.

I came here to say something similar....Agree! I think Vance has turned evil-I have no pity for him but I still see something in her-I want to yell run honey run! She looks like she wants to fall in a hole every time he spews his stupidity.

Really? She looked pretty smug about being booed for destroying the Kennedy Center.

True....I don't like them but I do feel she is struggling with her beliefs and what she is a huge part of. Unfortunately evil usually wins so I'm sure she will go dark.

You’re literally projecting. There isn’t one shred of evidence that she is “struggling with her beliefs.” All we’ve seen is her standing by him.

+1 the worst offender of anti DEI is Clarence Thomas.

Affirmative Action has been around since JFK days. And it was a lot tougher in the 1970s. If the public utilities had 100 linemen and only two Black employees then next hire had to be a Black person or another minority.

Ivy Leagues always looked for the JD Vance’s to counteract the idiot Bush Jrs they had to admit.

It's Hollywood. Anyone who had done due diligence on Vance knew he had taken liberties with his memoir.
