Yes they should, they are there to teach our children to be critical thinkers (you know analyze information and make their own informed judgment and opinions on all sorts of things). Critical and independent thinking leads to less people shooting people who accidentally knock on the wrong door or pull into the wrong driveway. |
You are too dumb to argue with. The bill doesn't say "hey guys, let's legislate pure homophobia to the point that kids flee and go back into the closet. We're going to be super clear about that so no one can argue about what our intentions are" They create conditions so vague and so ripe for the slippery slope, and so full of fear mongering that it's just easier to avoid it all together. THAT's what's happening. Don't be so obtuse. Unless you have a kid in these classrooms, sit down. |
Bigot |
| At what point can the federal government stop sending funds to the state teaching bigotry and hate? Let them fend for themselves after the next hurricane. |
How is it "promotion" to acknowledge that people have different sexualities? If you think mentioning gay sexuality is promoting it, then I am going to declare that mentioning hetero sexuality is promoting that lifestyle and it too should be forbidden. So basically, no sex ed at all. Back into the dark ages. |
| Remember when supports insisted this was only for elementary students? That lasted a few months |
| I think the bigger question is why do conservatives think it’s cool to be a bigot. They don’t even try to deny it anymore. They fully embrace having one of the most socially unacceptable and immoral character flaws. I don’t get it. |
I can’t believe anyone can argue that schools should not teach controversial topics. To that pp, all of the above, and please get some perspective. Slavery was once a “controversial issue”. As was the slaughter of native Americans, the repression of women’s right to vote, the passage of the equal rights amendment, the Americans with disability act. Apartheid, genocide in Rwanda, the cultural Revolution of Iran - all were controversial topics. The reason we got rid of slavers and gave women the right to vote is because young people learned about these topics and made the change. |
+1 Instead, let's send the message to kids -- kids here -- that they're so offensive, the mere mention of people like them in a book is getting the book banned. Let's send the message directly to kids that only if the topic is people like them will confidentiality with a school counselor be breached. Let's send the message to kids that only when topics of people like them are broached in school with a counselor (NOT in the classroom, with a counselor or privately with a teacher) and their parents aren't immediately notified, the school can be sued. So they're left with no privacy where others are granted that same right. Only if it's kids like them. You GOP'ers must be so proud of yourselves, legislating such hatred of children. |
Whatever facade of neutrality you were trying to build in the first part of your post was destroyed by your fake-news rant at the end. We see through your propaganda. And the real groomers are Republicans. Tons of stories of them behaving badly around children, whether sexually or with guns. Like Kent Stermon, Desantis's buddy. Or here's a good resource for you: |

I know a guy who committed suicide at 27 because he was convinced he was trans and had surgery before 18. He then realized at 21 he was actually a gay man but - surgery was done. Couldn’t live with himself. |
So there’s no bullying code-of-ethics at your kid’s school in Florida? |
THAT’S your takeaway??? Dude. Mass booing- who are they going to go after and prove it was “that kid.” Then if they’re punished, and told why, uh oh, that’s instruction involving issues of sexuality. Booing gay kids is wrong. Grooming! Gay agenda! Lawsuit. GMAFB with this burying your head in the sand. Some of us live in the real world that you created. |

Bigotry plain and simple.
If you’re a supporter of this nonsense don’t think for one second that the normal people around you aren’t thinking to themself that you’re a bigot. |
