Florida expands "Don't say gay" law to k-12

Imagine if instead of teaching about the Holocaust Germans just pretended it never existed and didn't allow their children to ever learn about it....

Do you not know or understand the trials and tribulations that gay individuals have gone through across the world are in our country... If you don't then you're likely from Florida and will never know

That person has no idea who Harvey Milk is.... Or Alan Turing. Or James Baldwin. Or why the fact that they were gay were vital to their positions in history. Their head is so far up their a$$

NO ONE IS "PROMOTING" HOMOSEXUALITY YOU IDIOT.

Do you prefer the word "celebrating?" It's basically the same thing.

First of all, no, those words don't mean the same thing.
Second of all, allowing people to be seen as human beings and worthy of dignity isn't celebrating or promoting anything. It's acknowledging that not everyone is the same, and you don't get to tell someone they are offensive at their core.
Third of all, think of this way. How much of this "celebrating gayness" would it take to turn you gay? How much? I'll wait...

I'm not an impressionable tween or teenager.

No one is changing their orientation based on pressure. Even when gay people were forced to marry they never changed their orientation, they just suppressed it.

What makes you feel so threatened by the idea that gay people exist and that they are gay from birth?

Pressure?? Are you kidding? It’s not “pressure.” It’s full celebration and reward of attention

Ok. What amount of full celebration and reward of attention would it take to turn you gay?

No amount would do it for me, but then I am a happily married, emotionally stable 46 YO with a lot of life experience, perspective and an understanding that life isn’t always going to go my way. I don’t crave attention or validation from others. I am secure in myself and have a loving support system around me.

I am not the target of the celebrating- insecure, immature, lonely kids with none of the above.

What does this have to do with the Florida law? Do you have concrete specific examples of teachers teaching that is putting kids in danger?

It has nothing to do with the Florida law that I can see. I was merely responding to the persistent poster who, for some odd reason, keeps asking what it would take to turn me gay. Why don’t you read back a few posts, join the conversation, and try to figure out what point this person is trying to make?

Because there is no way to turn anyone gay. Period. Full stop. Nothing could have turned you gay in middle or high school and nothing can turn you gay now. Same for kids today. You’re either gay or not. Nothing any teacher tells you, talks about, reads to you, etc would have ever turned you gay. You can’t be turned gay not because you’re “happily married” (spoiler alert- many gay people are happily married too), but because — wait for it — you’re not gay, never was, and never will be. Same for any kid in school today. They’re either gay or not. Period.

Oh, it’s the Full Stop gal again. Hi!
Of course what you’re saying is 100% incorrect. Just go to any high school or kids school for that matter, and talk to the girls. Virtually all of them will tell you that they know someone- or they themselves- are experimenting with their sexuality. This can mean anything at that age and of course the vast majority will turn out to be straight as adults. So there goes your theory

Oh hey, random pervert. Hi! Just how many random girls at any high school for that matter are you actually approaching to speak with them about their sexuality? You might want to check that.
But OK, I'll bite. Virtually all of them huh? That seems... slightly suspicious.
But you just said it yourself. According to your incredibly impressive but perverted scientific research of a creep, the vast majority will turn out straight. Which I assume is your desired goal.
So what's the f-ing problem. They experiment, they question, and -- much to your delight -- they wind up straight. No actual turning gay here to be seen.
What's the point of this legislation then?

I have kids in high school, which is how I know what I'm talking about. Do you? I would bet my bottom dollar that you do not, but you seem somehow obsessed with this issue anyway.

Kids this age should not be experimenting with gay sex, or with any sex for that matter. Why are people like you so intent on sexualizing children and teens that bills like the Florida law are necessary for their protection?

I am sincerely sorry for any trauma or pain in your life that causes you to think the way that you do. But trust me when I say that attempting to harm other people's children is not the answer to what you're dealing with.

Hand over your bottom dollar. Actually, never mind, I don't want it.
Yes, I have kids in high school and middle school. 8th grade and 10th grade to be exact. Even with that, I have yet to survey virtually all of them about their sexuality. Imagine that.
You think, if someone reads a book that has a gay character in it, they're going to run out and have gay sex? You really think that? You think a teacher talking about the civil rights movement that includes gay rights, they're going to think, "I gotta get me some of that STAT!" You think if they talk about an event in history that involves a gay person, they're going to look across the room and all of a sudden have feelings for someone of the same sex?
The only person sexualizing children in this scenario are people like you. Hidden trauma, indeed.

That is not the teaching we’re talking about and you know it. You’re deflecting from the issue of the promotion of one form of sexuality over others. What do you think the entire pride month celebration in schools is all about?

OK, now I know you're either a troll or aren't in Florida or both. THAT'S EXACTLY THE TEACHING THAT'S AFFECTED. That's the entire purpose of "don't say gay" because if you come home and your child was exposed, it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. It's wiping them out of existence. There is literally no promotion of one sexuality OVER another. I'll give you a small hint as to what pride month celebration is - it's so that we don't churn out more homophobic bigots like you. You are a walking billboard as to the extreme necessity of pride month. How dare you insinuate that they have nothing to be proud about you awful, awful person.

So you are "proud" of your sexuality? Very odd.

I'm proud of every portion of myself, and am proud not to be in a closet. Yes. I'm proud of my husband and my family and how we can walk hand-in-hand down the street. Yes, I am.
On the flip side, you are suggesting that people remain closeted if they don't match what you believe is "correct." Their response to your hatred is, "how dare you, I'm proud of myself and happy with myself." That's the pride people are talking about. You are just a sick and damaged person, and you are causing harm. I hope you're proud of yourself; I'm sure you are. Ironic, ain't it?

I couldn’t care less where you walk or whose hand you hold. You do you. Just leave other people’s kids out of it.

People aren't interested in being shoved back into the closet just because you lunatics have become obsessed with gay people and trans people.

The Republicans are being led down the path of fascism. Stealing this comment from DarkWasp14 on a reddit thread because it has the whole quote that anyone with a brain should be able to see the applicability of:

“This quote about Nazi Germany is just as applicable now. They Thought They Were Free from Milton Sanford Mayer
“But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.

And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you. The burden of self-deception has grown too heavy, and some minor incident, in my case my little boy, hardly more than a baby, saying ‘Jewish swine,’ collapses it all at once, and you see that everything, everything, has changed and changed completely under your nose. The world you live in—your nation, your people—is not the world you were born in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. Now you live in a system which rules without responsibility even to God. The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way.””

The Nazis started their persecution of their people with gay people, too. https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/gay-men-under-the-nazi-regime

I for one think there should be a national task force to rescue kids from religious cults, such as kids being raised in families like the Duggars

Instead the state of Florida is forcing women to give birth and then kidnapping children.

Such a strawman argument.

Is circumcision the affirmation of a delusion? Does it permanently sterilize the boy? Does it cause life-long medical complications and pharmaceutical dependency?

Has it been done for thousands of years or is it created and promoted by the medical profession as a money-maker? What is the surgical charge for an in-hospital circumcision versus the surgical charge for the attempted "creation" of a penis?

Just some questions you might want to ask yourself.

RWNJs went crazy about covid deaths making more money for doctors than non-covid deaths, which was false.

Now you're trying this. Any sources to support this concept?

Why do some want to teach small children about sex of any kind?

And get angry at being told they aren’t allowed?

Well define “small children”

It is possible for girls age 12+ to get pregnant & give birth so I dunno, maybe they should be talk about sex.

If a 12 YO is getting pregnant and giving birth she has a lot bigger problems than lack of sex education in a public school.

I am the victim of sexual abuse by a family member. It would have been super helpful to know that what was happening to me was not normal or natural or okay in any way shape or form. And before you say parents should be teaching this, yes I completely agree. But when parents are the abusers that's an issue. Had I had any awareness in elementary school that my body was my own and I had the right to say no to inappropriate touch. That would have been amazing and would have drastically changed the outcome of my life for the better
