And, despite the fact that 31 Dems voted with Republicans, some Dems are calling it racist.
The word has become irrelevant.

Of course, Schumer is unlikely to bring it to a vote.

Schumer can't stop this. Under procedural rules for this type of legislation, any senator can bring this to a vote, and it only has to pass with a simple majority to go to Biden. And I'm going to guess at least a few Democrats are going to vote with the Republicans again in the senate.

And Biden will refuse to sign, right?

No way he does anything that -- rightly or wrongly -- makes him seem soft on crime, not with an election coming up. Republicans would tee off on him. He'll express his reluctance but will sign it, while privately making sure Charles and Brianne and all the others become lepers in Democratic circles for bringing this mess to him in the first place.

Biden is going to 100% sign it and he should.

Doing so would give whatever ghoul the Republicans nominate a whole lot of easy ammunition. It's not happening.

You mean not signing it gives the Republicans ammunition.

These laws that were passed are deeply unpopular with the Americans of all political parties.

Whatever it takes to get these Dems to realize their soft on crime stances are ruining cities.

I love how goobers from flyover country are so obsessed with urban crime

It impresses me how out of touch one can be from the people in your own city.

It’s funny to see people who can both speak confidently out of their rear end about topics like crime and also reflexively support the progressive position on…everything, even if there could be negative outcomes, such as increased crime and other problems. We get it. You’re cool. You’re super woke. We live in the city, too, but if we so much as criticize the increase in the car jackings and teen violence we should just shut up. We’ve seen your yard signs.

+1 Who thinks it's a good thing for violent people to commit crimes and assault innocent victims?

“ In a statement Friday, Craig said she is recovering at home in Minnesota, and she joked, "My morning coffee really saved the day yesterday, but not exactly how I expected it to," she said, adding, "On a serious note, I will also say that I was very, very lucky that I was not more injured — and I'll have more to say about that soon."”

I look forward to hearing what she has to say. DC Council probably not so much.

8 years eh? Did something happen in DC government 8 years ago that was important?

I know what you’re implying, but it’s probably more relevant that this guy turned 18 eight years ago.

I really hope the building owner is held to account in addition to DC. There are many stories of terrible building security. Especially an issue in buildings with voucher tenants.

What’s the building owners liability?

Is this the same as the DC AG threatening to sue Kia instead of prosecuting carjackers?
