Hours after being punched in her face in the elevator at her apartment building, Craig, a Democrat, voted with Republicans, against DC’s revision of the city criminal code.
And, despite the fact that 31 Dems voted with Republicans, some Dems are calling it racist. The word has become irrelevant. [twitter]https://twitter.com/FoxNews/status/1623751094819074049[/twitter] Of course, Schumer is unlikely to bring it to a vote.
Schumer can't stop this. Under procedural rules for this type of legislation, any senator can bring this to a vote, and it only has to pass with a simple majority to go to Biden. And I'm going to guess at least a few Democrats are going to vote with the Republicans again in the senate.
And Biden will refuse to sign, right?
No way he does anything that -- rightly or wrongly -- makes him seem soft on crime, not with an election coming up. Republicans would tee off on him. He'll express his reluctance but will sign it, while privately making sure Charles and Brianne and all the others become lepers in Democratic circles for bringing this mess to him in the first place.
Biden is going to 100% sign it and he should.
Doing so would give whatever ghoul the Republicans nominate a whole lot of easy ammunition. It's not happening.
You mean not signing it gives the Republicans ammunition. These laws that were passed are deeply unpopular with the Americans of all political parties.
+1 Who thinks it's a good thing for violent people to commit crimes and assault innocent victims?
