I just ubered from PG County Mall to my home on the Hill, and the stretch of Bladensburg from NY Ave to H St/Benning was by far the sketchiest blocks of the whole ride. Despite the rep the PG Mall was actually very nice - clean and well maintained, good stores, good food, very calm. Hill folk are definitely in denial about how sketch it is lately. |
The attack happened @ 7am. So was he there all night or all day from the day before and all night? My building in upper NW had someone who was letting people in to sleep in halls overnight. When discovered the police were called and the sleepers left. A notice was sent out that doing so again would be grounds for eviction proceedings, whether tenant or guest of tenant was allowing people in. |

Not reality, unless you are a Democrat. |
Guarantee someone felt bad for him and let him in. |
I called the police once about a homeless man in a tent on the corner of our town harassing people. The policeman who picked up the phone yelled at me and said “where do you want him to go?” I told him that I pay a ton in taxes every year to the county and those taxes pay his salary and that when people like me leave the area due to this crap, his job will definitely be in jeopardy. There was no response and the situation was addressed. |
Cop probably put him on a bus to the nearest big city to make it someone else's problem instead. A huge number of DC tent dwellers aren't originally from DC and already shuttled from place to place. |
?? Several people were shot (some killed) at PG Mall in 2022 and the bank was robbed at gunpoint in January. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/prince-georges-county/suspect-arrested-in-killing-at-mall-at-prince-georges/3175726/?amp=1 https://www.wusa9.com/amp/article/news/crime/one-dead-shooting-prince-georges-county-mall-police-say/65-90aa0dd5-d2c8-41bb-b1ec-0285fdb2f4f0 https://wjla.com/amp/news/local/brinks-truck-robbed-east-west-highway-hyattsville-maryland-armed-gunman-suspects-police-investigation-atm-truist-bank-crime-two-men-ski-masks-black-cargo-pants-bmw-suv-tinted-windows-information-rifle-handgun And this guy was assaulted and robbed of his purchases: https://wjla.com/amp/news/local/man-assaulted-robbed-new-nike-jordan-11-sneakers-leaving-store-prince-georges-mall-hyattsvillemaryland |
Sounds calmer than H St! |
In DC you can call non-emergency 311, as well as a number for homeless wellness checks. BTW, cops also have access to this, so not sure why he was being such a prima donna. If the person is threatening. by all means call the cops. |

I once called 311 because I was concerned about the unhorsed person’s wellbeing. I can’t imagine a situation in which I’d call 311 to have any person removed from standing on a public property. It’s a free country last time I checked. By the way, Netflix has an excellent short documentary on this issue. |
