OP here. It’s so good. I’m also having asparagus all summer long. |
Recipe? |
I always read a bunch of recipes, make notes in my cookbooks, then invent my own. I dont think I have ever made the exact same recipe twice.)
(this goes for everything I make, not just soup.) |
Many variations out there, but a basic recipe would be: 2 lbs tomatoes 1 green pepper (yellow or orange fine too) 1 cucumber (remove seeds) 2 cloves garlic 1 small onion (red or white) 1/4 cup red wine vinegar + 1 tbsp 1/4 cup olive oil 1 tsp salt Chop everything into pieces. Put the garlic & onions in a food processor first and process until finely chopped, then add other veg. Combine with oil, vinegar, and salt and chill for 2 hrs. Healthy, delicious, and satisfying. Use the freshest & best quality tomatoes you can find. |
Thank you for this good advice. I’ve been skipping dinner/ eating very light not later than 7. Homemade soups without salt, sugar, and all the other crappy ingredients that are used to increase shelf life, are the best. So far, I lost 5 lbs. |
Soup is the best helper for losing weight. I try to have 2 types in my fridge or freezer at all times. I just had a cup of fresh celery soup so I would not munch on cookies before bed.
Tomorrow I'm making gazpacho. Ive got tomatoes, cucumbers and green bell peppers from our backyard. They've been growing like crazy this summer. |
With such quick loss, you're setting yourself up to gain it all back and more. Slow and steady is much more sustainable. I speak from a lot of experience... |
I feel like you can't know if this is plausible at all without knowing OP’S starting weight. Going from 208 to 200? Sure. 128 to 120? (Depending on height) not so much. |
yummm i bought frozen wild caught salmon filets from whole foods - poached stove top! very quick on a hot summer night too hot to cook. served atop salad + olive oil, seasoned salt, and for dessert .... saur kraut! |
Soup is great advice - try whisking in a spoonful of collagen powder! Great Lakes Collagen Powder is the best in the world! no taste and very filling and satisfying to your body so you don't experience nutritional starvation. I think a lot of our "hunger" starts with low-nutrition foods (starting to show up in scientific literature too - refs upon request) |
Well it's been a month (almost) since OP posted this - curious if they lost those 8lbs. |
I just made a light vegetable soup. In the summer I do really broth-y soups; in the colder weather I do heavier ones -- meaning less broth, more veggies/beans -- almost a saute rather than a soup. Lots of cilantro in this one.
The combinations are endless. About to get started on my third gazpacho recipe this summer. Dessert will be cantaloupe. I've lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. Feels so good. 20 more to go. Slow and steady wins the race. I have not given up anything; just eating soups and drinking lots of water with cucumber or frozen berries to decrease my appetite. |
I’m not OP but I lost 9 lbs recently on Noom, from 139-130. It took 3 months. I tracked everything I ate (averaged 1400 calories a day) and walked 45-60 minutes 5-6 days a week. Drank lots of water and slept well. I’m 53 years old and post-menopausal. |
The Fast Metabolism diet worked really for this for me. I think it was recommended here, and I gave it a try. |
Thanks for asking. I’m OP here to share how hard it’s been to get rid of the first 5 lbs. So far, I lost 7 lbs ![]() |
