Agree. Bowser is prone to long standing corrupt practices within DC government. Robert White doesn't seem vulnerable to corruption. I'm a ward 3 voter and I like that he seems to take his time to analyze and balance what is right for the entire city as a whole. |
| Robert White is a pandering moron with garbage plans. It's pathetic that this is all DC could cough up to pit against Bowser. |
| I just don't understand the people in this thread who thought Bowser kept schools closed too long and therefore... want White?? That is insane. He'd still have schools closed. |
Agree with this- I actually like Robert White as a person as he does seem more genuine and empathetic than the current administration but feel that his campaign has tracked too far in the Janeese Lewis George / Charles Allen direction for me to be able to vote for him. I’ll be begrudgingly voting Bowser again and hope he does come back in 4 years with a little more common sense baked into his strategy. |
I'm in Ward 4 and I've been really happy with CM Lewis George. Especially compared to Todd/Bowser. |
Me too. I don't agree with everything she does/ votes for but I like that she takes the time to listen to constituents and evaluate different points of view. She is more of a legislator than a politician which is really nice. I can't quite get a read on Robert White but agree with the posters that say that he seems less old school DC with tit-for-tat than Bowser does. I do also agree that his views on school opening were much more extreme than I would have liked- but I also think Bowser and her admin patted themselves on the back wayyyy too early with the "DCPS is open" messaging. I know many kids that never got to go back all last year even thought they wanted so all the half assed reopening did was give her political points without doing the work to actually get all kids back in person. |
| White is way to leftist extreme and I am a progressive. His whole "jobs for everyone" is a complete waste of money. Why create and pay gfor jobs that the city does not need just to employee people without skills? He is also a total lackey for the Teachers Union. |
this. He will DO ANYTHING the union wants |
You're paying either way. The actual question is whether you want to pay via salary to productive members of society, or via incarceration costs and compensation to the victims. I know I'd certainly prefer the former. |
I think something like the CCC or WPA would be a great way to deal with people who are otherwise unemployable |
I am personally of the opinion that even paying people to show up and do nothing at work is better than paying them to do nothing at home. |
But Robert White is in the pocket of Washington Teachers Union (They endorse him!!!) and supported their efforts to obstruct schools reopening! So Bowser's alleged and unproven corruption results in new infrastructure and revitalization of the city, while White's documented corruption results in closed schools, a widening gap between special needs children/children of color and their NT/white peers, and constant efforts to prioritize teacher benefits over the best interests of children. I'll be voting for Bowser. |
+1 to these two pp's. After keeping schools closed, his efforts are focused on legislation to allow Washington Teachers Union members even more control over schools, including sitting on the State Board of Education that oversees schools. He's a shill for the union. |
Same. I don't understand why this isn't a bigger issue. It's an embarrassment to our nation that DC can't figure this out. I'm embarrassed that US and foreign visitors come here and see this nonsense. |
1. DCPS (under Bowser) had more COVID protocols and to-do items than almost every other school district in the country. 2. WTU's demands weren't necessary to meet to reopen safely. 3. WTU used their demands as a stall tactic to delay reopening, which harmed children. Robert White supported WTU's obstruction. 4. If Robert White was Mayor, schools wouldn't have even opened Fall of 2021. He vocally opposed reopening even then. 5. Don't forget that Robert White is endorsed by WTU. He supported WTU's obstruction for his own political gain. |
