We could really commit to a couple of options that would work. 1. Imprison them to get them away, maybe great them to our something. 2. Build trust and provide housing that they'd choose over living on the street. Bowser just continues to half-ass something in-between. That, of course fails. Just pick one and really do it. |

Robert White has no chance of getting elected to the office of Mayor. The Barry era has ended. |
Agree. |
Honestly, I think all Robert White needed to do was campaign on a “good governance” campaign to improve the quality of life in the city and city services, while committing to not be beholden to special interests. That’s it. It’s sounds dumb and corny but this is really what everyone can agree that Bowser does poorly and it’s the number one frustration of DC residents. Instead of trying to capture some Marion Barry energy, he should have been trying to capture some Anthony Williams energy. Running an ideological campaign to Bowsers left just plays into her perceived strengths. Running a campaign that directly questions her competence in effectively and fairly administration of the city goes right to her weaknesses. For example, here are some potential taking points that could have been effective against Bowser (1) Crime is increasing because Bowser is neglecting Wards 7 & 8 and leaving those communities behind. Bowser talks about Wards 7 & 8 like they should be part of Maryland, instead of DC. This is unjust. I would ensure that ALL communities in DC are afforded the same resources. Many schools in Wards 7 & 8 have been neglected for maintenance and de-prioritized for capital improvements. I would allocate the money to make sure those schools can get upgraded to provide the same quality of facilities offered at Murch and Eaton. Education is a cornerstone of lifting people out of poverty and people cannot wait any longer. (2) I will conduct a thorough review of all capital expenditures across all departments to ensure that resources are being prioritized equitably. (3) I will reform DCRA so that it works for the people of DC and not businesses, whether it’s Comcast or a fly by night property developer. (4) I will improve the quality of city services for everyone. 911 is a joke. Many neighborhood parks are in disrepair. Trash & recycling pickup. Etc. (5) I will not publicly court or be beholden to special interests, whether it’s the richest man in the country or local construction companies. The people of DC deserve to be fairly and democratically represented. I just thought of this 30 seconds. Robert White seems to be running a campaign for social media engagement instead of addressing the practical needs of the people of DC. |
Robert White could never run on the platform of not being beholden to special interests groups because he's a lackey for Washington Teachers Union (WTU endorses him) and has obstructed reopening every step of the way. If the legislation that Robert White and Janeese Lewis George proposed was enacted, then schools would be closed right now. Teenage crime has increased specifically due to Robert White's efforts to keep schools closed last year and his ridiculously lenient positions on crime, which unfortunately other Council members share. WTU also endorses Janeese Lewis George, which is why they're both veering in the same direction. Both JLG and Robert White offer progressive platitudes, but both have repeatedly ignored constituent requests to actually fix things. Both of them just send us links to whatever broken process we told them we tried and isn't working. They're not the people to actually partner with government officials to actually improve anything. |
Robert White cannot run on that because Trayon White is going to either win in Wards 7 and 8 or come in second to Bowser. Robert White's only chance to win slipped away when his hamfisted attempt to get Trayon off the ballot failed. Now he might finish third in the race. |
You mistakenly believe that Robert White should be campaigning for the Black vote. In fact, he should be going after Bowser’s liberal white supporters. They can be motivated by injustice. They can be motivated by poor quality of services. They can be motivated by distaste for corruption. |

If Robert White were mayor, kids would never go to school again and teachers would only work an hour or so each day — streaming YouTube videos to their students from the comfort of their couches.
Not surprising why WTU backed him. If you want a mayor who will be a slave to special interest groups, Robert White is your candidate. (Golly, Bowser is no peach but I can’t believe there are fully grown adults who think Robert White is a serious candidate for mayor). |
Ultra-liberal white voters already were going to vote for Robert White, because they can't stand Bowser. Problem for him is, there aren't enough ultra-liberal white voters in DC to make a difference. |
Is it nice? To be so disconnected from reality? |
It's gonna be hilarious when Robert White finishes behind an anti-Semite cretin in the primary. |
| I can tell you why I am NOT supporting him: schools. He has the WTU endorsement and seems to think schools should have been closed forever for Covid. I am a single-issue voter on this now. Pandering to a special interest group whose members by and large don’t even live in DC, and refusing to acknowledge the harms of school closure, is an absolute contraindication to election. |
Since I really hate R White, does it make sense to have T White second in my ranked choices? T will never get elected, but can take votes away from R, right? |
ha ha, best post. I don’t personally see Bowser as incompetent though. She got DC through covid relatively well: setting up the testing sites, vax sites, course correcting on other covid restrictions. could have been better but we did not end up like SF. she seemed to wait a beat then do what NYC did. that’s a moderate and OK approach. |
