Under Bowser, Walls got watered down. Wilson got watered down. And the Capitol Hill middle high school situation continued its dysfunction. Bowser had a lot of time to make schools in the city more academically rigorous and she chose to do the opposite.

Wow. You sound so deeply misinformed. Um, everything you’re complaining about would be far, far worse under white.

I completely understand where White stands. At least he’s honest about it. Plus he’s in favor of eliminating mayoral control of schools so is possible we can get a school board elected that doesn’t advocate for these dumb things.

Bowser is ALREADY watering standards down AND she wants to retain control of the schools.

Lesser of two evils. Plus I’ve met White a few times and he seems thoughtful and like he genuinely cares about the city. Bowser only cares about Bowser.

I bet you think strippers are really into you too. It's politicians' jobs to make you like them.

Voting for White because you're concerned about watered down school standards is like voting for Republicans because you think taxes are too low. It's those on the political left -- people like White -- who are leading the charge to water down school standards. They think it's an equity issue.

LOL that would work after crime increases 800% and he officially turns DCPS into a jobs program.

Bowser is ALREADY DOING THIS. And she wants to retain control of the schools. This is not the amazing argument in favor of Bowser that you think it is.

At least Bowser took the radical stand that schools should, you know, be open?

R White would support a SBOE dominated by union members. If you think that’s an improvement over Bowser and will lead to more rigorous academics, don’t knoe what to tell you.

I don’t like Bowser but it’s completely bizarre to suggest White is better on these issues. His position on all education issues is to basically let the teachers union do whatever it likes. If white was in charge, schools would still be closed. At bowser lets kids attend school.

It’s also strange how people think White will be better on crime. White believes criminals really just need a hug.

It's strange how simple minded Bowser's lackeys are. No, nevermind. It's expected.

Crime has gotten appallingly bad under Bowser. The homicide count this year is 72, a 6 percent rise over this time last year. Homicides in D.C. are now rising for the fifth consecutive year; in 2021, killings surpassed 200 for the first time since 2003.

Bowser is doing absolutely nothing about the rampant car jackings, robberies and general violence in the city. I absolutely do not feel safer than I did before she was elected. She panders to the left without working to enact any policies that might have an effect on crime, so it’s literally the worst of both worlds.

It may be a protest vote, but I think Bowser needs to understand that people are unhappy with her leadership. Given that Trayon is a complete whack job, I’m voting for Robert.

Bowser kept the schools closed for an entire year because it benefited her politically. Then when the politics changed, she reopened the schools.

It’s not just crime. Pedestrian and cyclist fatalities have steadily increased under Bowser. She was asked about that at a news conference yesterday and her only response was “I don’t believe that.” What??? So not only does she not have a plan, she doesn’t even understand that there is a problem.

A child died in our neighborhood. We have Maryland temporary tag assholes speeding through our streets, racking up fines that they never pay, putting people in danger, and Bowser doesn’t even understand that there is a problem.

This made me think he was the toughER on crime candidate, but this thread seems to suggest otherwise? Crime and schools are my top issues, and if he is in fact willing to acknowledge that we have some serious problems he’ll get my vote.

4000 MPD will do more than the empty buzzwords White is throwing around. As for schools, he seems most concerned about the under 3 year old crowd. What makes people think he will bring rigor to DCPS middle and high schools??

If Bowser was running for the first time, I might believe that she would do something meaningful about crime. But crime has gotten steadily worse during her tenure as mayor. She doesn't get to run as the law enforcement candidate when she created the situation that we find ourselves in. Schools have been stripped of rigor and that's completely on her because of mayoral control of the schools. There are homeless encampments all over the city. Things have not gotten better for middle class and upper middle class folks during Bowser's tenure. Things have not gotten better for poor folks under Bowser's tenure.

Bowser had eight years to improve the city. She has failed. I'll be voting for Robert White.

This is what I don’t get—how anyone could say they are voting for Bowser because they’re worried about crime and public safety when things have gotten worse by every indicator during her EIGHT years as mayor. It’s time for a change.

Robert is a left wing nut job and left wing nut jobs, generally speaking, do not give a fig about crime
