And if it is not positive then go back when better? Even if it's 2 days?

I would think so. I don't see any reason to not go back at that point, especially with a negative Covid test. But realistically, are people going to test for every cold-like symptom?

If we had enough tests, they would, but you can thank our useless government for not mandating manufacture of PPE and tests, that they won’t. No, we are just going to have to chance it and pray to God that omicron is “the end of COVID.” Personally, I would bet good money that it isn’t. I fully expect some new Satan-spawned variant from a third-world country or Mississippi or Texas — where people can’t or won’t get vaccinated — to appear before the year’s end.

Yes. I have had several students out for a couple of days with cold like symptoms. Parents tested and they were back in a couple of days. Now, I will say you should test to confirm they are ok before sending back.

His position has always been to let localities choose.

The only issue I have is that they made no distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated. I want to know if my vaccinated ES kid will have to quarantine for 5 days or can just go to school after proof of vaccination.

That hasn’t changed. It would be ridiculous if they made it more restrictive?

FCPS won’t change anything this year.

Or possibly ever. We might be wearing masks for the next few years.

Do I tell FX Health? I tell the school but then what do I need to get back to school and how long do I have to stay out. I am so confused and cannot find the rules anywhere??

The HD doesn’t care about your at home test. Fill out the online attendance form for your school. They will call you if they want more info. Type in something like “Jane tested positive for Covid and will be out of school on …. This will be ten days from when her symptoms began (or the positive test). I will contact yi if there are any changes.”

That’s almost exactly what I sent to the school for my child and they followed up with a phone call, mostly just asking if he was okay and how he was feeling. We weren’t interested in streaming and he contacted his teachers directly since he’s older.

Thanks! I just want to understand. If the at home test comes up positive, we keep her out 10 days? And then she just goes back at day 10 no questions asked?

What do we do if she is sick with no positive test? We just keep her out until she is better - 3, 5, whatever days and send her back, no questions asked?

Really, it’s okay. Tell the school by email or by a phone call that you are keeping them home ten days. Send your kid back after that. There isn’t a form.

The only form I ever had to fill out was when one kid was sent home with symptoms. They gave me a form and I had options and a paper to fill out before returning. When my kids actually had Covid, there was no form and they just needed to stay home the ten days. Someone from the school will contact you for sure if they want more info.

Yes. If your vaccinated and exposed but not positive the health department confirms your vaccination status and you go back. If you have Covid you have to stay home. This isn’t complicated people!

LOL as if elementary kids learned anything online last year. Hahaha, core concepts my rear end.

The obvious solution is just not to test.

Isn’t it if you are vaccinated, exposed and not symptomatic?

Vaccine doesn’t stop you from spreading it, so no need for different rules.

What do you mean,WTF? If you’ve got it, you’ve got it. Being vaccinated doesn’t impact that.

Any student who is vaccinated must stay out for 10 days. No change in that procedure.

FCPS has updated its procedure for staff: You can return after 5 days (after symptom onset or test, whichever comes first) as long as your symptoms are improving, you’re fever-free without meds and you can wear a mask. Again, being vaccinated or not makes no difference in how long you have to stay out.
