Fcps isolation policy - when can kids return

Anonymous
I am confused about the process. If my child has symptoms and I give her an at home test and she tests positive, what is my next step? Of course, I keep her home. But what else?

Do I tell FX Health? I tell the school but then what do I need to get back to school and how long do I have to stay out. I am so confused and cannot find the rules anywhere??

The health department isn’t tracing home tests.

No, that’s not FCPS policy yet.

That's what the CDC says. CDC trumps FCPS.

Agree^^, but FCPS refuses to align themselves with CDC and make these unreasonable guidelines. It's really frustrating.

I can't imagine why...

Scroll down to Isolation: https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/return-school-safety/pause-quarantine-and-contact-tracing

Tell the school so they can be placed on Pause and receive instruction, no need to tell FCHD.

The HD doesn’t care about your at home test. Fill out the online attendance form for your school. They will call you if they want more info. Type in something like “Jane tested positive for Covid and will be out of school on …. This will be ten days from when her symptoms began (or the positive test). I will contact yi if there are any changes.”

That’s almost exactly what I sent to the school for my child and they followed up with a phone call, mostly just asking if he was okay and how he was feeling. We weren’t interested in streaming and he contacted his teachers directly since he’s older.

I honestly would just call the school and ask them. None of this makes any sense to me!

But won't the school wonder why my kid was out 3 days? How does she just go back in?

Thanks! I just want to understand. If the at home test comes up positive, we keep her out 10 days? And then she just goes back at day 10 no questions asked?

What do we do if she is sick with no positive test? We just keep her out until she is better - 3, 5, whatever days and send her back, no questions asked?

Pause is not for covid positive people - The pause will be initiated by the FCHD for anyone who interacted with an individual who reported a positive COVID-19 case.

Our kids were symptomatic. Positive at home tests. I read the fcps policy as saying 10 days from start of symptoms, kid can return.

I’d she is sick, she is sick - no one really cares. There is a form to return from COVID, check the link a few posts up or call the school.

There is no form. Does the school provide it?

Who cares? Your kid is sick, keep her home until she feels better.

Why are people so obsessed with forms, telling the FCHD, telling the school this that or the other? Its a freaking cold, people. Treat it like one and move on.
