FCPS announces they are following CDC Guidance in SOME cases

Anonymous
From the FCPS This Week Email:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new guidance for isolation and quarantine in late December, with an update January 4. This guidance reduces isolation and quarantine to five days. The VDH states that school districts may choose to continue more stringent isolation and quarantine requirements or may implement the new CDC guidance.

FCPS will adopt the new guidance with one exception:

FCPS will adopt CDC’s recommendation for quarantine for students and staff.
FCPS will adopt CDC’s recommendation for isolation for staff.
FCPS will NOT adopt CDC’s recommendation for isolation for students as we are unable to implement the required physical distancing protocols during meals.
This new guidance goes into effect January 10. More information will be available on our website soon and in upcoming issues of FCPS This Week.

But what on earth does the bolded mean???? Kids still have to isolate for 10 days if they are exposed? And what about vaccinated kids?

Isolation is for people who test positive. Quarantine is for people who have been exposed. So they’re going to follow CDC for students and staff who have been exposed but keep the 10 day isolation for student who test positive. This is what makes the most sense. You can’t send a kid who definitely has Covid back to eat lunch next to other kids after only 5 days.

Also meant to add that staff will be allowed to come back after 5 days but not students. I guess because staff can eat alone away from others but kids can’t.

Hey guys - I asked thread to keep the first two posts and delete everything else so we don't confuse people. Thank you to the PP who correctly explained isolation and quarantine.
