Fcps isolation policy - when can kids return

Why are people so obsessed with forms, telling the FCHD, telling the school this that or the other? Its a freaking cold, people. Treat it like one and move on.

I can tell you right now, any kid with cold like symptoms will be sent to the clinic immediately. Keep your kid home the 10 days. Otherwise it could be more of a pain for you.

See the FCPS This Week that just came out. Kid is out 10 days if test positive. They are not adopting the CDC guidance in this one instance because they can't maintain distancing during lunch. This makes sense, as after 5 days, 30% of cases are still positive on a rapid.

And for all of these reasons, this is precisely why FCPS was closed for a full week: they need time to figure this all out and initiate a clear policy. Agree it’s very confusing.

I just want to know what I need to do to send my kid back to school when she is out sick. Can anyone tell me or, like me, does no one know???

What if sick but not covid. Just go back and no questions asked???

What do you mean by the part in bold? How sick? I've had parents keep their kids home because they "have a runny nose" or "have a sore throat", but they return a day or two later.

If it isn't covid wouldn't they just go back when they feel better? If a child has a runny nose or headache for a day or two I'd keep the child home until they feel better.

The isolation for students has not changed. 10 days of symptoms onset and/or positive test. If your kid has cold like symptoms get them tested.

And if it is not positive then go back when better? Even if it's 2 days?

The policy for keeping kids home hasn’t changed. You don’t need to tests to return. Just call them out sick but I don’t think any further questions are asked unless they are out for several days, they might call and find out what’s going on.

I have a kid with a GI issue and sometimes misses because she had a non contagious actual stomach ache and they’ve never said anything.

I would think so. I don't see any reason to not go back at that point, especially with a negative Covid test. But realistically, are people going to test for every cold-like symptom?

I have no idea what we're supposed to do. FCPS has failed everyone. Thankful this is my last kid in this district.

If we had enough tests, they would, but you can thank our useless government for not mandating manufacture of PPE and tests, that they won’t. No, we are just going to have to chance it and pray to God that omicron is “the end of COVID.” Personally, I would bet good money that it isn’t. I fully expect some new Satan-spawned variant from a third-world country or Mississippi or Texas — where people can’t or won’t get vaccinated — to appear before the year’s end.

Well, I hope he had some decent teachers. Gatehouse does suck but I have met a lot of intelligent and kind teachers in this county.

The only issue I have is that they made no distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated. I want to know if my vaccinated ES kid will have to quarantine for 5 days or can just go to school after proof of vaccination.
