2025 Girls Lax WCAC + ISL Outlook

Pace and transition have never been used in the same sentence with SSSAS. Don't think it will change this year.

And there they are the KJ and defenders of her antique ways of lax are out in full force. The game has changed and time will tell if KJ can keep up or not. Let us see what happens when she can't stall that 1 goal game for 4 minutes.

This the easiest defense I have ever played - why would KJ play a game to entertain the parents of her competitors and lose.

From your comments you obviously were in a game where you lost and your team couldn't force a turnover for 4 minutes.

I've seen Stone Ridge, Visi, STAB, and GC slow the game down when they're winning.

Not because it's "antique" - it's because its smart.

Won’t having shot clock require teams to sub more becuse their players - midfielders especially - will be running more and therefore all teams will need to rely on more than just starters? If so there are a couple of schools that rely almost solely on starters and then the bench to go in only to give them quick rests.

The shot clock will surely challenge those teams that have not trained the bench to actually play. I can think of two ISL teams specifically that aren’t prepared for more running.

None of them will be able to do that any longer but the other teams have been going up to play the IAAM teams for the past few years playing by with it but not SS&SA.

Sssas is so deep. Not sure shot clock is going to harm them.

No one fears SSSAS anymore. Still good, but their time has passed.

OLGC has no one who comes close again this season. They have by far the best goalie in the DMV surrounded by the best defense.

For a team no one fears - you all sure do talk about them alot....

Good Counsel is still top of the heap, wouldn't be surprised though if Stoneridge over takes them.

No one else in the WCAC is really saying anything this year besides GC.

Stoneridge has a tougher path in the ISL but should be the cream of the crop. Toss-up for the remaining top 4.

Potomac has all the pressure though they got to do something in ISL or VISSA this year.

Until that pesky new shot clock expires and they are still looking for that one more pass...

They will play to the rules of the game. it would be dumb to not run out the clock when you have the lead.

The added bonus to running out the clock is we all get a break from hearing you yell "WHEELS" over and over as your team loses to Kathy - again.

Why is it that the most annoying Alexandria parents (in Stars and now Capital) insist on yelling that over and over?

I think you might be projecting.....

They are playing largely the same starting line for the third year. Lost a couple of good players but have a couple returning from injuries. It nets out the same. They either don’t have new talent or they are not using the “depth” that they have.

Somewhat similar situation at Potomac relying on handful of starters to play almost full game with not much to back it up.

Stone Ridge has talent at every grade level. They identify it, develop it and use it. Same but even moreso at OLGC.

This is some ESPN level analysis right here.

Didn’t SR lose half of their starters? Their 2024 class was larger than some A’s entire varsity roster

I think the reports of SSSA being over are a little bit of wishful thinking. According to IL over the past 4 seasons it looks as if SSSA record against the dmv looks like this:

v. Stone Ridge 4 wins 3 losses
v. GC 1 win 0 losses
v.Potomac 4 wins 0 losses
v. Visi 2 wins 5 losses

The data may be off but not by much..

So I think they are capable of beating any of the area teams on any given day. This is not to say that they are better than any of these teams but to say their days are over may be a little premature.
