Here is what abc news is reporting Smollett as saying (abc directly quoted him):

""I have to acknowledge the lies, and the hate. And it feels like if I had said it was a Muslim, or a Mexican, or someone black, I feel like the doubters would have supported me much more. A lot more," Smollett, 36, told ABC News' Robin Roberts. "And that says a lot about the place that we are in our country right now."

Prior to the police identifying and interviewing the two persons of interest, Smollett said he believes the two men in the photo released by police in the days after the attack are the perpetrators."



-so according to Smollett, the men in the video yelled "this is MAGA country" put a noose around his neck, and beat him badly enough to require hospitalization -

-only the 2 men are actually 2 friends of Smollett's from the set, fans of Smollett's music, and they are Nigerian. Oh, and only his REDACTED phone records were given to the police.

I read a rumor that police had the full phone records (by subpoena) before he gave them the redacted ones..I wonder if he redacted calls/texts from the brothers and that caused a red flag (one of many)

Someone reported that they actually made the job easy for the police because they just compared the two lists of numbers and focused on the ones that had been redacted.
