It's not racist, it's a fact, and pretending the issue away will not reduce crime rates. Also, statistically, the victim was likely of minority race and she deserves as much outrage as if this had happened at a W school.

Exactly. She likely was Latina. And what if it's discovered that her family is illegal? I can just here Trump saying, "We should not pay for her to recover in this country." It is so f*#^*d up. Obama would have deported and it would not have even made the papers.

Unlikely she was Latina. According to the police report, at times she stated they spoke in Spanish between each other (the 2 perpetrators) and if she knew Spanish, she'd instead state what they said.

Why would she befriend someone she couldn't communicate with? She probably is a Spanish speaker who was born here or has been here awhile. She might not have understood the Spanish dialect or slang that was used among the perpetrators.

It doesn't matter what her nationality is. What matters is that she was violated in the worst possible way by criminals (who shouldn't have been here in the first place) in a SCHOOL that was supposed to keep her safe.

The BOE and the CountyCouncil are quick to call you a racist if you don't think undocumented individuals should be allowed to be here. No wonder Trump latched on to grieving families.
I suspect MCPS will not admit to any security flaws and will double down on their "you're a racist" to anyone who questions their policies.

I've been a lifelong moco resident who was once dedicated to this area and mcps, but this has gone way too far and more and more I feel like this is not a place that cares about people like us. I'm a legal immigrant by the way.

I am utterly disgusted and like you, I am at a point where we are now thinking of moving out of MOCO. If not, my kids are going to private. I've been such a proud supporter of MOCO and its schools for a long time now, but enough is enough. It's clear that this is not a place that gives a sh*t about people like us.

I have a special needs kid in private elementary. This crime and the gang activity in MoCo is frightening. I can't imagine sending my child into this. I am just praying to get a voucher to take my tax dollars with me. Enough is certainly enough. Our county provides every kind of service imaginable to illegal immigrants...

We need to stop illegal immigrants from coming here and registering in our schools with no questions asked. As a parent of a special needs kid, it is especially galling to me to have to fight for services while illegal immigrants just roll up, register and fill up our classrooms and get special services w/o the fight I have to go through. I eventually pulled my kid from MCPS. This is messed up.

This. How could MCPS be so stupid to put children's safety at risk by allowing a known illegal immigrant MAN into a 9th grade public school classroom? Does that even sound remotely right to anyone? I have a girl in ES right now but I know I would not be willing to send her to a high school that allows this to happen.

Agree with you. These moneys should be there for your child and others in your situation. It's a shame we no longer prioritize our own, we just prioritize diverting our tax dollars to political causes like taking care of immigrants for more votes. Just shameful. I am sorry the County has let your child down.

Did you grow up here? This is nothing new to MCPS. This has nothing to do with immigrants, especially illegals. This stuff happens with white upper class kids as well. The difference is it is often unreported or swept under the table. Good for this young woman for speaking up. This has nothing to do with SN kids or even immigration. What it has to do with is it shows we need more security at our schools from guards to camera's to keep our kids safe. We need metal detectors too.

I have a SN kid too. We choose private and have always done private services to make sure our child has what he needed. It sucks and its life. But, blaming illegals has nothing to do with SN and they are two very separate issues.

I support immigration. I'm Jewish and my family had to run during the holocaust. It was sad the US would not take our families in and many died because of it. The same for many folks trying to flee today. If you look at the news about what is really going on in these countries where they are being leveled daily with bombs, we should be taking more of these people in so their kids can have the lives they deserve and become productive citizens.
