I do think that your ire is a bit misplaced, though. MAGA voters were always going to vote for him. I would lay this one at the feet of those who could bring themselves to vote for a 78 year old white man when he ran against Trump, but could not bring themselves to vote for a 60 year old black woman who is in no way less qualified than he was. Harris got 66 M votes while Biden got 80 M. Trump lost support between 2020 and now, and still won popular vote, which tells you everything you need to know about American voters.

Yea if you can’t acknowledge racism and misogyny had a big role to play in this election then you’re a lost cause. Fine maybe she wasn’t the best candidate but look who she was running against! Convicted felon rapist with two impeachments and an insurrection. You have the audacity to think the convicted felon is more qualified than the woman who was a DA, senator and VP? No you’re just a racist misogynist.

Or plain stupid AF. Which a lot of them are.

Again with the racism and misogyny. I will concede that for the fringe MAGA voters (a small percentage) racism and misogyny played a role, however, as I know many Trump voters (even though I was an anti-Trump voter) I can tell you that is not true of the majority of those who voted for the Republican Party. So please stop blaming racism and misogyny. If you can't do any introspection and acknowledge the many reasons why Harris lost then you're a lost cause and the Republican party will likely win again in 2028.

Signed an anti-Trump Harris voter.

Once again, this is not Bush v Gore or Clinton V Bush. This was trump (a convicted felon, rapist, hitler wanna be, fascist wanna be, immigrant hater) vs a highly qualified woman who happens to be black/indian. If you can look at Trump and say this is someone you want as president given the last 8 years, but especially the last 1-2 years, then yes I view you as racist and misogenistic. You are comparing Shit with a highly qualified public servant

*unqualified

You may not agree with her policies, but an ADA, DA, Senator 4 years, VP 4 years makes anyone Highly qualified.

I'm not the OP but let's be perfectly honest here: Anyone who voted for Trump, or who abstained from voting, does not have ANYONE to blame for anything to go wrong in the next 4 years but themselves. If their wages don't go up, if their grocery and heathcare costs don't come down, if their rents don't come down, if they still can't afford to buy a house, that's THEIR OWN FAULT.

There's no escaping that.

He won the popular vote. Finger pointing and stupid, smug, blinkered arrogance are your fatal character flaws.

To add: Democratic strategists CURRENTLY ON MSNBC collectively AGREE that the economic messaging to poorer traditional Democratic voters was poor. But hey you know better right!? Right!

I've said it for years. I support Democrats and most of the Democrat agenda, but they totally SUCK at messaging.

Stop this. You can’t tell people something they don’t want to hear. You can’t rationalize with irrational people. These are people who think pandemic gas prices were because of trump and not because none of use were driving anywhere. They’re willfully ignorant and no amount of ass kissing will change them.

This. I’m tired of being lectured about not caring about The Forgotten American. I’m a real American too. And I’ve worked hard and delayed gratification. And I believe it’s my responsibility as an American to try and level the playing field so all Americans get opportunities. But we are held back by bitter aggrieved people who won’t lift a finger to help themselves and think they are entitled to make dumb choices and not suffer the consequences.

Every American who isn't MAGA has just been forgotten. We're "absolute garbage" and "scum."
MAGAs are no longer entitled to the victim complex.

Don't forget the "enemy within." I expect my membership card in the mail any day now.

And don't forget the "deep state" and "the system". It is supposed to be powerful and omnipresent but can't do shit to Trump.

Trump won. You can put this lie to bed now. Just like the “caravans” of 2016.

Semi related, but there were Drag Queen Story Hours held at public libraries all around the DMV and in other liberal parts of the country that were caught on tape and went viral on social media.

At public libraries, not in someone’s home.

If you thought these things were “cute”and didn’t actively oppose them, don’t cry about Trump when a mom in Dearborn or a Hispanic man in New Jersey votes Trump for no other reason than they, RIGHTLY, think that kind of stuff is weird and they want no part of a party that looks the other way and tacitly supports it.

In the 1990s and 2000s, any mainstream Dem would look at you like you were crazy if you told there were drag queens reading books to kids in staged events at public libraries. And this type of crap is one of the reasons Trump won.

The irony of voting out a party that promotes a drag queen story hour only to replace it with a party who's leader says the most vile things about women, minorities, and immigrants boggles the mind. I think I'll stick with the drag queens.

Trump looks like a drug queen too, with all that makeup.

Mainly because the R gutted the original Obamacare plans and what was left was all that could be pushed thru. You want lower prices, you need a single payer system (Like most of Europe and Canada) with a supplemental private system for those who choose to pay more. But you cannot have healthcare executives making $100M+/year. You have to view healthcare as a given right and make it not-for-profit. The for profit portion is what drives up the costs.

We will be fine but I cannot wait, cannot I tell you, for them to reap what they sow.

Very typical thinking for progressives. You want the "other" to suffer while your stocks go up. Everyone senses your hatred. And you are not winning elections with your spite.

Toddler behavior from the left. Trump won because he ran the Better campaign and he worked hard to earn every Americans vote without using celebrity endorsements or media pundits. He wasn’t asleep by 9pm every night. He’s campaigned and criss crossed the entire country for a third time at 75+ even after almost losing his life twice .

I feel somewhat the same. I’m sick over this but ultimately it’s not going to affect my life. It’ll mostly hurt the people who voted for him.

Except for women. This is tragic for all women and girls (and men who actually care about them), regardless of their economic position or political persuasion.

It’s tragic that Democrats are ok with biological men participating in women’s sports, stealing their opportunities, and changing in women’s locker rooms.

And if you stepped away from just your liberal news sources you would know that Trump supports abortion up to a certain point (can’t remember if it was 12 or 16 weeks) with exceptions for rape, incest, health of the mother.

F no, I am a democratic voter and I don't think trans should be in women's sports. However I don't give a F about unisex bathrooms because I've been on airplanes.

And I told you there is no such thing as liberal media. All big media outlets are owned by blood sucking billionaire, including your beloved Fox News. They will be invited to Trump White House, and you will not.

+a trillion.

Obamacare is insurance. It is not healthcare. It does not charge for healthcare.

If you want a system like that, you seem to want single-payer.

Exactly!

And Obamacare/ACA plans cost similar ti what your employer plans costs---its just most employers pay a significant portion for each employee.
Ours is $250/month for entire family for medical/vision/dental. But the cost for COBRA (True cost) is almost $2000. Also, ACA plans are based on your ages. But my employer does NOT get to charge someone who is 60 double what the 24 yo gets charged (that is what ACA does).

Obamacare is not perfect, but at least people have a means to obtain health insurance and cannot be denied/charged more for preexisting conditions (only reason they can charge more is if you are a smoker currently--and that is your choice and under your control). That is also huge benefit to many people

LOL! trump would (and probably has, hello Putin) sold his soul to the very devil to get celebrities and those in power to get behind him!

If that were the case, he would have ran as a Democrat. Trump’s been around celebrities his entire adult life and it doesn’t seem like that holds his interest. He certainly lost popularity with Hwood once he ran for President. Oprah, Stern, Joy and Whoopi and all the rest used to love him as a guest. Now they hate him

The reason he did not run as democratic candidate is that we would not tolerate his rapey behavior. Remember Al Franken was forced to resign for a lot less, by his own party?

You can tell yourself that but did you not pay attention to what Trump, Vance and Johnson said? They’re going to fix it. They want to put people in risk pools so that young healthy people don’t “have to subsidize” the elderly and those with preexisting conditions.

Trump and the Reps literally just won an election with their spite! Trump = spite.
Spite clearly works. So does playing dirty. And so I am done with my kindness, open-mindedness and compassion.

+1

Out of spite, I think Ds should hang back for a few elections at the federal level. Let the Rs turn the US into the hellhole they desire. Then we can revisit the value of government regulation and government services. Maybe they need to feel the pain first.

Moron we are already feeling the pain which is why Democrats lost so badly. Why do over 70% of Americans feel like the country is moving in the wrong direction if the Democrats were doing such a fantastic job? They have held office for the past 12 out of 16 years. A majority of people believe they are worse off today than they were in 2020. Why are so many people moving to red states? The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Because of the pandemic, world-wide supply chain, etc.

People would be in an even worse place if Trump had won in 2020. Ds gave us a soft landing. Just look at how the US is recovering compared to other countries.

Well people who understand economics and can read and process real news understand that. But majority of the 51% don't understand that and don't want to.

That is really condescending. The entire globe suffered from inflation. It was not as bad in the United States as it was in other places. That is not impossible or even that difficult to grasp.

Except apparently it is.

But who cares how stupid they are. What matters is reaching them with an effective message. Meet them where they are. We apparently didn't do that this time, and now we have what we have.

That is going to help the birth rate so much too. Not.

If you don't have any insurance, the costs for a pregnancy, labor and delivery are ruinous.
