We live in a different America clearly, and the disgusting trash won.

But I so wish for it all to work out just as we know it will. Let them lose their healthcare and social security and welfare. Let them all get deported, every single one of them. Let our stocks go up while they wallow in their paycheck to paycheck. Let their families go hungry and sick. Let Musk cut the government in half, all of it. Let their women bleed out in hospitals.

I feel somewhat the same. I’m sick over this but ultimately it’s not going to affect my life. It’ll mostly hurt the people who voted for him.

+1. I "can wait" and I hope the next four years are nowhere near as bad as I fear they might be, but if they're bad, I am comforted by the fact that the pain will be at least evenly distributed among Harris and Trump voters.

I disagree. There are many malign actors who understand the levers of power in federal Washington who will be anxious to get positions in the Trump administration. Although Trump may have publicly disavowed Project 2025, those behind it are exactly the types of savvy policy entrepreneurs who will now have positional authority to enact their preferred policy changes. A willingness to break with norms (and laws) makes them potentially very capable of upending governance as we know it. The filibuster is all that keeps us from truly unleashed crazy.
