Kate spending time with "birth family"

Regarding the adjuvant chemotherapy:

I have a family member who underwent pretty aggressive “preventative”/adjuvant chemotherapy and radiation. The thing is, it wasn’t a months-long process. And he wasn’t sick and feeling poorly once it was over. It lasted a few weeks, and during the process, especially in the days immediately after he was exhausted and felt poorly, but once the treatment was over, he felt himself again.

Kate’s adjuvant chemo began months ago. How is it still ongoing? You vent receive chemo for half a year, can you? And you stop feeling poorly soon after treatment stops. So why can’t she be seen for a YEAR? The math just doesn’t make sense! And as for her hair, if that’s the excuse, well, she has money for the best wigs. It’s not as though the public doesn’t know she has cancer and was undergoing treatment!

Yep, you can receive chemo for months or even years! Some folks with metastatic, stage iv incurable cancer will stay on chemo until it stops working and then go to a second treatment line.

We would need more info on your friend to understand if it has any bearing here. What kind of cancer did he have? What chemo drugs was he on? How many rounds? What stage? Any immunotherapy or monoclonal antibody therapy and if so, which one? Happy he had a full recovery!

+1

Thank you for trying to clear up some of the misinformation, though the ship seems to have well and truly sailed.

Most of the people I’ve known who had cancer while still in their working years continued working, at least part time, while undergoing treatments. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Alex Trebek are two examples of wealthy people who nevertheless worked throughout cancer treatment.

Kate is either taking full advantage of her royal privilege by quitting work entirely, or her cancer is very much more serious than her announcement let on.

Why shouldn't she? I sure as hell would. Also, as far as I know, RBG and Alex Trebek did not have three young children. You sound like a jerk.

Stop acting like Kate has literally zero help and no privacy. She has an entire private estate on which to roam with cooks, maids and Nannies at her beck and call. She is not some Average woman going through chemo with real life scenarios to deal with.

Yes it isn't private when people like you who have zero idea of what is happening make disparaging remarks. Or the British press talk about her. So she has help her kids still need their mother.

Princess Kate and all Her hired help sends you thanks for defending her so fiercely bored American housewife.

Well you must be bored too since you are here. And why the insult on housewives? It's a holiday!

Kate did not want George to go to Eton.

Yes I believe she wanted her boarding school. Does Eton start at 14?

Eton is within a short walk of Windsor Castle. So if the parents are at home in the Windsor Great Park area, they could see quite a lot of their son.

It was just an odd way to say she was going to be spending her time with the Middletons (which makes perfect sense to me and also is not my business).

Is this a British thing? Do people in the UK use the term "birth family" to refer to your family if origin, as distinct from the family you marry into?
.

I have seen people from the UK question it on tattle so it's definitely not British thing. I don't know why they did it unless they wanted to put emphasis that she wasn't around his family

Please don’t use your experience with one person to generalize about everyone’s cancer experience. Yes, you can have chemo for several months. Yes, it can make you feel crappy. You can’t possibly expect km to give the public a detailed rundown of her treatment schedule. I don’t think you all realize how offensive it is to claim you know how someone should feel, how long their treatment should last, whether or not they should be capable of working thru treatment, etc when they have cancer.

Kate did not want George to go to Eton.

Well soon that won't matter.

WTF does that mean. There is absolutely no indication that she is dying, just because she prefers to keep her health information private. And no wonder! Geez.

DP. She might not be dying but if she hasn’t figured out that whatever William and his family says it won’t matter because they’ll be divorced.

Divorced or dead by end of 2024. Sadly.

But good that it’s resolved before a succession if/when Charles also passes.

How does wanting privacy equal dead or divorced?

You are still presuming the truth in what the BRF has put out there — that Kate is in a position to want privacy. I can’t speak for everyone else, but I am so suspicious of this whole thing because 1) there’s been multiple lies that have been perpetrated and now proven to be not true (eg, Kate does not have cancer, Kate will be back by Easter, wild photoshopping incident, etc), 2) this is a family that has historically discarded the wife / placed all importance into the heir to the throne, 3) this woman has literally not been seen in public nor on any kind of live broadcast for 5 straight months now — this is completely unprecedented by a member of the senior royal family.

So the question to me isn’t whether she is entitled to privacy, but rather back to the original question — I am still wondering if she’s ok at all.

Totally different from the Black Panther situation, and I don’t think is an apples to apples comparison. I had no curiosity about that whatsoever.

9am
How about this...they were hopeful that she would be back by Easter but she is not feeling well enough so they adjusted. That isn't lying.

Why do you think you deserve the whole truth in very intimate detail? We don't even know King Charles! I think Princess Catherine deserves more privacy.

She has been seen in public- the media is not snapping pictures of it because they are trying to respect her privacy. Also she didn’t have cancer when she first went in for surgery- the cancer was an incidental finding. Take off the tin foil hat and try to find something productive to obsess over - like Taylor and Travis…

Considering we don’t know what type of cancer or the staging for Kate, we can’t even begin to compare.

Even knowing the stage, etc - no two patients are alike. There really is no way to compare.

DP. This retort is so tiresome. Very few posters on here, if any, are claiming they are entitled to know about her medical condition. What people are saying is that the whole situation is just odd. The way KP has chosen to handle this from the outset is odd and stands in stark contrast to how BP has handled Charles' diagnosis. And because of how all of this has been handled, it's raising a lot of questions and causing speculation. It's not the type of thing people are used to seeing from such a well-known and public facing family with a history of scandals. It's not at all a stretch to be wondering what's really going on.

If any of that bothers you, it might be better for you to stop reading the thread instead of trying to police the posters on here.

I think that no news is good news about Kate's health for now. She is recovering in private. If we don't hear any update from the BRF by January 2025, could we be bit worried about her?
