Kate spending time with "birth family"

The UK is not crumbling because Kate is not in public. I think she probably had a mental breakdown over all this and that’s why the press is completely hands off and her schedule is empty for the year. I’m not a fan of the royals but I could see where a health scare put her over the top with stresses of her newly elevated role, sending her kid to boarding school, all the drama with the spares, etc.

Most of the people I’ve known who had cancer while still in their working years continued working, at least part time, while undergoing treatments. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Alex Trebek are two examples of wealthy people who nevertheless worked throughout cancer treatment.

Kate is either taking full advantage of her royal privilege by quitting work entirely, or her cancer is very much more serious than her announcement let on.

Stop it. You don’t even know what chemo regimen she’s on. I’m on the Red Devil, it is brutal, I cannot work and you should not be shaming cancer patients. I get that your response was about her, and maybe you just don’t like her, but please, if you meet someone going through chemo and think they’re just not “working hard enough” or “lazy,” keep it to yourself. I guarantee you the vast majority of us are doing everything we can to survive.

There’s a saying in cancer groups - if you think we are doing it wrong, why don’t you get your own cancer and do it your way.

I agree that this doesn't sound positive. I feel terrible for her and her family and I hope she will be all right.

As to not being seen in public, I say good for her. Any glimpse of her or the kids is just going to feed the insane news fire. She should be able to be treated and recover in peace.

I didn’t because my cancer center is better than theirs… but facing chemo with young children is super daunting. I have one more round to go!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. One more round for you and hopefully you and your family will be celebrating your good health!

Thanks for sharing that. Great points and all the best to you.

My friend moved back in with her parents while she was going through chemo. Her hair fell out and she couldn't eat well. Kate certainly doezn't need to feed the public with images like that so they can analyze and catastrophize while she's focusing on her health and kids.

The conflicting stories are interesting. I honestly don’t care about the royal family but it’s been fascinating to watch it all from a PR perspective.

Why shouldn't she? I sure as hell would. Also, as far as I know, RBG and Alex Trebek did not have three young children. You sound like a jerk.

Why don't you all write her a nice letter or a get well soon card. She has been flooded with those, and I expect they're a lot more cheering than seeing this speculative nonsense.

She's not a character in a soap, she's a human.

They didn’t also have small children at the time.

I think Kate moved is getting support from her parents for privacy reasons. I don't begrudge her spending time with her family and stepping back from work.

Many people keep working through their cancer treatments and that is okay too. My brother in law was diagnosed with glioblastoma and was cleared to work by the Army Rangers and was training Army Rangers out in the Las Vegas desert up until 8 weeks before he passed. He did not need the money but I think he needed the activity.

She likely needs help with the kids, and it makes sense the grandparents would help.

She has a nanny.

Seriously. She has cancer and you expect her to work unpaid.
