Most of the people I’ve known who had cancer while still in their working years continued working, at least part time, while undergoing treatments. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Alex Trebek are two examples of wealthy people who nevertheless worked throughout cancer treatment.

Kate is either taking full advantage of her royal privilege by quitting work entirely, or her cancer is very much more serious than her announcement let on.

Why shouldn't she? I sure as hell would. Also, as far as I know, RBG and Alex Trebek did not have three young children. You sound like a jerk.

Stop acting like Kate has literally zero help and no privacy. She has an entire private estate on which to roam with cooks, maids and Nannies at her beck and call. She is not some Average woman going through chemo with real life scenarios to deal with.

Yes it isn't private when people like you who have zero idea of what is happening make disparaging remarks. Or the British press talk about her. So she has help her kids still need their mother.

Princess Kate and all Her hired help sends you thanks for defending her so fiercely bored American housewife.

Did you read the DM or Tayler article about how the Wales’ delayed the hiring of their new CEO/head of staff this year?

Kate did not want George to go to Eton.

Well soon that won't matter.

WTF does that mean. There is absolutely no indication that she is dying, just because she prefers to keep her health information private. And no wonder! Geez.

DP. She might not be dying but if she hasn’t figured out that whatever William and his family says it won’t matter because they’ll be divorced.

Divorced or dead by end of 2024. Sadly.

But good that it’s resolved before a succession if/when Charles also passes.

Also, their timeline and lies keep changing. She was last seen after Christmas, then they kept repeating she will be seen after Easter.

It was reported William needs time off as well to tend to his wife and kids and a particular mention of the phrase “school run” was made in regards to William’s responsibilities. Now, she’ll be out for the rest of the year but an emphasis is made that she’ll be with the “birth family”.

Are we to really presume the kids are not with their mother at this time and that William is truly dropping and picking them up from school daily?

It’s a ridiculous notion but one the Place gave as a reasoning for Williams per usual scant work schedule .

If William is not with Kate and she’s with the birth family , why did the Palace lie? William is not with Kate and was only spotted going to the hospital to see her once back in January. Charles saw Kate more than he did

Does school not end for the summer in the UK?

The kids have not been in school this year (2024). At all.

Kate said (in the video) that they waited to announce her diagnosis until the kids’ school break. Wouldn’t their classmates and teachers call it out if they had not actually been in school?

Not really. Their school is ultra private and full of aristocratic students and teachers who want to be in good standing with the royal family. They all need to get with the program as they are underlings of the crown . They aren’t going to a neighborhood school with random kids

This.

It was just an odd way to say she was going to be spending her time with the Middletons (which makes perfect sense to me and also is not my business).

Is this a British thing? Do people in the UK use the term "birth family" to refer to your family if origin, as distinct from the family you marry into?

It's not a British thing. It's just one weird phrase used by one particular journalist thing.

If you are curious, google the Spanish journalist Concha Calleja who broke the story about her being sick in January. She’s written other things as well.

Because they’re obviously separating and it has nothing to do with an illness. Why would preventative chemo require her to be MIA until 2025? Why wouldn’t William have been there for support for the filming of her announcement? Remember how her siblings were photographed on vacation during her serious illness. They’re going to medically retire her and William is going to go on his way.

I’m late to the party so forgive me if this has already been discussed:

Regarding the adjuvant chemotherapy:

I have a family member who underwent pretty aggressive “preventative”/adjuvant chemotherapy and radiation. The thing is, it wasn’t a months-long process. And he wasn’t sick and feeling poorly once it was over. It lasted a few weeks, and during the process, especially in the days immediately after he was exhausted and felt poorly, but once the treatment was over, he felt himself again.

Kate’s adjuvant chemo began months ago. How is it still ongoing? You vent receive chemo for half a year, can you? And you stop feeling poorly soon after treatment stops. So why can’t she be seen for a YEAR? The math just doesn’t make sense! And as for her hair, if that’s the excuse, well, she has money for the best wigs. It’s not as though the public doesn’t know she has cancer and was undergoing treatment!

People keep talking about British schools and whether they are out for the summer. They don't really do that. They have more but shorter vacations throughout the year. Like two to three or so weeks off. Then a summer vacation that starts maybe mid July that is longer. But it depends on what school you go to.

It's not like here where you have short breaks over Christmas, thanksgiving, and spring break and then one long uninterrupted summer break.

Yep, you can receive chemo for months or even years! Some folks with metastatic, stage iv incurable cancer will stay on chemo until it stops working and then go to a second treatment line.

We would need more info on your friend to understand if it has any bearing here. What kind of cancer did he have? What chemo drugs was he on? How many rounds? What stage? Any immunotherapy or monoclonal antibody therapy and if so, which one? Happy he had a full recovery!

Nothing about the story they are putting out makes sense.

I still think someone would have leaked to the press (although maybe the entire school and press are covering for her?)

How does wanting privacy equal dead or divorced?

If her cancer was found incidentally during an abdominal surgery, it’s very possible they found it early enough. Preventative chemo is more than a couple weeks.

Considering we don’t know what type of cancer or the staging for Kate, we can’t even begin to compare.
