St. Albans loses to St. John's yesterday?

Boy that is not a good sign for the STA boosters who have been posting all year that the program has turned around. SJC is supposed to be pretty bad this year.

The "STA boosters" may be wrong. I don't know and the season is young. What I do know is that SJC's win was due to a talented team and a terrific new coach more than anything else.

They hired someone who would fit in at STA and not some fire-breathing rock-head, for whom STA is a stepping stone. (And there are plenty of those available)

The new coach is an Ivy grad and an IAC grad and is from the neighborhood near STA. He is going to be able to communicate with the rest of the faculty and staff, the parents and the players. He's a very good fit against a number of criteria.

I know the boys love him, and his assistants, and they are learning a lot from all of them, on and off the field.

I've heard mixed reviews.

Hiring solely because he went to Brown and is local guy, doesn't mean it was an excellent hire.

Why is SJC supposed to be bad this year? They hired a new coach in November to replace Trig.

I would like to know what the statement is based on. My DS, who plays club lacrosse, is going to SJC and wants to play lacrosse in HS. How can they be bad with a new coach. Are you saying the talent pool is bad?

I'll take the bait. Kevin Giblin the new coach at O'Connell coaches O'Connell over Dematha for the 1st time in over 12 years.
St Albans losing to St John's is not a good start, but it is a long season. St Alban's defeated Flint Hill in lacrosse today. Congrats Coach Hyland.

That does not surprise me. Freshmen beat them last year too. Gonzaga is a powerhouse.
