That is a lie. I am there and there is maybe 1/4 inch at 8.40.

Delay for rain and open on time for falling snow? Already an inch here

Wow, an entire inch.

Not all of us live on flat, plowed roads!! An inch of slippery snow could mean lots of accidents. Some of us live in rural areas, and are commuting from far away. I am keeping my kid home as I work from home and it is possible.

The rural areas aren't going to get an inch of snow.

The side roads that weren't treated have relatively little traffic. People won't get into accidents. Especially not anyone with common sense.

Are you serious? People can't even drive in the rain. We're upcounty where there is an inch of snow on the ground and it is currently snowing. My kids bus was 15 minutes late today. A 2 hour delay would have been the right call for today, maybe even no school today. Ridiculous.

D for trolling. This is a southern storm; upcountry is getting less than downcounty.

Seriously. Where exactly are the links to reports and pics of the heavy storm everyone is screaming about? I’ve looked at local news and weather, and it’s is minimal snow basically everywhere. Inconvenience /=/ emergency.

1-cm size snowflakes along the 495. This snow storm is passing by laterally so upper-county could even not see any snowflake at all.

Saw several accidents when dropping kid to school. Buses were having a hard time due to road not getting cleared.

I don't think it's particularly dangerous (unless you're waking) but it's very inconvenient because of the traffic delays. Might as well have delayed for 2 hours to allow the kids to experience the wonder of winter. Outdoor education is shamefully overlooked in this area.

Are you Taylor's mom? I just typed bethesda into weather dot gov snow total map and it says .7 inches in bethesda.

No. We are not prepared to pay to deal with problems that come up rarely. There isn't budget for additional cleaning services, salt trucks etc to get sidewalks etc etc cleaned. We have a large immigrant populations without winter coats even. There are years it doesn't snow and there are no delays or days off. If mcps and MoCo paid enough snow cleaning contractors those here it would be wasted $.

I have been in the DC area since I was a little kid, and I seriously do not get this argument. We get snow, icy rain, road freezes, etc. every winter--sometimes pretty frequently--and every year the defense to being woefully unprepared is that "We don't get snow here! What do we do?? Help!" We should have allocated more budget to snow prep decades ago. Frankly, I would be thrilled to have my tax dollars "wasted" in this way.

Don’t know what is happening upcounty, but this was the wrong call.

There is a thread on NextDoor that a child got lost because they couldn't see the sidewalk. This was very bad.

Can’t wait for this one’s apology email.

You're mistaking caution with difficulty. This is fine.

In the way up county we have a solid inch + but the issue is how icy it is just under the snow. Rumor of a bus accident on Jerusalem rd.

Uhh, that's pretty embarrassing. They didn't recognize any landmarks? I think that was a parody.

No, it's not. Stop trolling and gaslighting. It's still snowing in Clarksburg.

Not much. The grass is still showing!

The accumulation totals in MoCo range between 0.1-0.4. https://www.weather.gov/lwx/pnsmap?type=snow&date=20251205&option=csnow
