It’s not. It’s a normal, common thing for lots of people to do; 2 years CC to save money on tuition, live at home, then transfer to a 4year for the degree.
The killer part, though, that’s not part of the plan.

I mean in terms of stress, living on your own, completing research and a dissertation, etc. It can tip the scales for someone with underlying mental health issues.

Uh, no.

I've done all these things, and you know what crazy idea I had? Dropping out. Not murdering a bunch of people. Not remotely on the radar for any persons struggling with mental illness.

Sure but no one knows whether he went to CC because he had no money or because school was difficult for him. Scranton is a pretty poor area.
PP here. I work in the mental health field and know that the stress can definitely precipitate mental health episodes for some people.

A lot of people do two years at community college, finish at a four year university, then go on to masters/phD. You are a snob.

Not at all. I think community colleges are great! You are misunderstanding my post. I was referring to the stress of not being near family support and living independently while trying to earn a Ph.D. More than a few students can't take the stress, and it can trigger mental health episodes for those with that vulnerability.

Sure. But what does that have to do with going to a community college?

PP here. I just don't know how to say it another way but will try. This young man probably had underlying mental health issues (anxiety? OCD? possible schizophrenia?) that were managed while he was in a smaller community college setting that I read was near his family. He may even have been living at home. And he wasn't having the academic demands of research/dissertation. His mental health issues may have worsened with the additional stress involved with trying to earn a Ph.D.

News reports say the surviving roommates called friends over to the house when they believed one of the housemates was passed out and they couldn’t wake him or her up. Then one of the friends who the housemates called over called 911. Do we know any more about this? It doesn’t make sense to me that the victim wasn’t covered in blood. Presumably we will find out more when this all goes to trial.

The suspect’s IG:
https://instagram.com/bryanchristopherkohberger

The only posting on there is very strange; it seems to be a repost of a company’s video.

The accounts he most recently followed seem to be mostly IG profiles about firearms, knives, and some rightwing meme pages. Definitely getting angry white male incel vibes.

Many on Reddit are guessing that he probably posted on Reddits related to the murders using alt handles.

Here is a quote from the chief of police. This is why the FBI should take control of these news conferences

“We have an individual in custody that committed this horrible crime.”

I wonder why his neighbors or parents didn't realize or notify police about the car he drove? It was all over the news.

It might be because there are tens of thousands of white Hyundai Elantras coast to coast. That could be part of it.

PP here. If I knew my friend or son or brother was enrolled in school and lived approximately 10 miles away from the murder scene and also drove a white Hyundai Elantra, it would give me a reason to wonder. I might even think someone had borrowed or stolen it. You wouldn't?

"The University of Idaho has 90 white Hyundai Elantras registered to park at the school, vehicles similar to the one police are seeking in connection with the quadruple homicide just steps off campus, records show."

Ugh but not one driven from the area where this horrendous murder took place, that would give me pause especially if my kid was as weird as this kid is being reported as presenting himself. Thank God he didn't harm anyone else (that we know of) while his family buried their heads in the sand. I mean didn't they wondered why he had and apartment and a job and was a student but wasn't going back to school? Come on man.

But not one that mysteriously dissapeared across the country with a grad student who did not return for the rest of Winter break. Kinda stands out, don't you think?
