What you don't seem to get is that this is a routine, fairly common, bread-and-butter story in the child abuse world. You think it's "political" or sounds "highly emotional" because you don't know what the heck you are talking about, or how much you don't know. Anyone in the field will tell you this happens all the time, and it gets reported, but the info is usually pretty carefully guarded to avoid further traumatization. Men who rape children don't usually just do it once -- there is a pattern of abuse, and other crappy awful choices, and kids get impregnated. |

Hey, all you posters who thought it sounded "fishy" -- I notice you aren't focusing on the jackass moves of the AG.
Can we get some damnation heaped on the AG for flagrantly lying and politicizing this terrible, sorry case? Do you have the backbone to criticize your own, or do you just leave that kind of fair play up to the Democrats? |
|
So can we all come together at least to say it was right and just that the 10 year old received an abortion, and it would have been criminal to make her go to term and go through delivery? And that it was wrong to make her travel to get one?
Even the anti-abortion folk out there, can you at least agree that this is what should happen, and that it's not good that she had to travel across state lines to access abortion? |
' The Wall Street Journal has an editorial in the paper this morning: "An Abortion Story Too Good to Confirm Biden told a tale of a 10-year old rape victim that no one can identify" The paper basically accuses Biden of lying:
The editorial remains up on their website with a note at the top reporting that the story actually is true. But no apology, no mea culpa. Want to know one reason why our democracy is failing? Because a large part of our media has no interest in reporting facts, they only want to tear down the Democrats, and propagandize. |

I honestly do not understand. Do they not believe that these things happen? Truly? |
| I think raped children should be able to get abortions. Making that illegal is bad, and the people who support making it illegal are bad too. |

Read the remarkable survival story of Michele Bratcher Goodwin, a law professor at UC Irvine, who was repeatedly raped by her father starting at age 10. When she was 12, she had an abortion, which she says saved her life.

Yes. Men who rape children tend not to do it once. It's again, and again, and again, and they also often don't use condoms. I'll never forget the first four year old girl who had been infected with HIV by a family member that I took care of. |
Revolting. Both that she endured such an awful experience and that extremists are advocating for raped children to go full term and deliver babies. And revolting that anti-abortion advocates look the other way and wash their hands of these situations. It doesn't affect them, they sleep well at night believing they've saved "babies" but don't give 2 thoughts about the babies who are punished for being raped by having to endure pregnancy. |
