Shame, Shame, Shame on our now silent "feminists."

NPR, where are you? With the rapists??
Please speak up.

If the "feminists" such as Jezebel magazine don't comment on this and condemn it out rightly, they've pretty much lost whatever little credibility they have left with their "outrage" feminism journalism.

Newsflash, dickhead: your contempt for women - especially those with the temerity to be feminists! - is part and parcel of the attacks in Germany. Which is to say: on a continuum of rape culture, you're part of the problem.

There doesn't need to be feminist commentary, because everyone is talking about and condemning it, mainstream media, men, women. Feminists discuss subjects that are not already in the mainstream, bringing them to light. There doesn't need to be light brought to these New Years Eve assaults.

That is utter bs. As a woman..when feminist articles started talking about how men sat on subways...and how selfish that was. Manspreading does not impede my day to day life and my liberty to do as I please. When they started gapping on and on about rape culture in colleges, I remembered how I used alcohol in college to fuel my courage and I was just as eager to explore my sexuality with that frat guy as he was with me.

You know what impedes my rights? The possibility of being assaulted in public places and being told to cover up and be at "arms length" because there are groups of men from another culture that do not respect me and the western way of life. That actually hinders my life and my liberty. That's a womans right issue that we should be talking about because our freedom is at stake.

Are you a woman? I don't think you are. It has been drilled into my head to be aware at all times, in all places. Be alert, travel in packs, don't go out alone at night, dress conservatively, don't tease men. Every time there's discussion of a rape on this board, someone says, well, what was she wearing? Was she drinking? If you are a woman, your rights have been undercut for your entire life and Conservative Christian men have sought to reduce them further.

(PS, feminists have been talking about these issues for years and they've been pooh-pooh'd as crazy, hysterical wimmen.)

NPR isn't condemning the all out welcome mat for these folks who have been conditioned from early childhood, that women are property, not equal human beings.

Why is that?

Because NPR has its own agenda whether it's Trump, refugees, racial violence, middle east politics, etc. All of the individual media outlets have their own agendas. Which is why we need to read or even skim multiple sources. When someone blindly follows CNN, NPR, or Fox, it tells me they are missing part of the story.

I absolutely love npr and can't understand why they've been silent. I always tried to convince myself they were impartial and unbiased but this proves to me that they have an agenda. I'm very saddened for women's rights in the world.

I'm positive that if it were Germans molesting, groping and raping refugees that news articles would be all over it.

Agree 100%. That's why I always want to hear the far left AND the far right, and everything in-between.

Just found that our icon, Gloria Steinem, recently did say on NPR, "violence against women" is one of the "most important issues facing women today." Yet she's uncharacteristicly SILENT when 500-1000 Muslim men have sexually attacked innocent women on NYE in Germany and Austria. I'm still hopeful that she'll muster the strength to speak-up and CONDEMN the attacking of women by Muslim men in Europe and elsewhere. Muslim immigrant men do NOT deserve a free pass from her.

Gloria Steinem must condemn politicians who fail to punish and deport the criminals who are sexually violating young women and grabbing their underwear off their bodies in terrifying mob scenes in the dark. We NEED Gloria to pressure the media to STOP hiding this travesty. I want to hear the personal accounts of what's happening to these people. Anonymous interviews are perfectly understandable. As anyone should know, many women are simply unable to immediately come forward to police or the media, especially hostile police and media who have been ordered to hide this. It often takes time (and help) to process what has happened to you.

Not all women in the world have Twitter to report the coordinated sexual abuse by mobs of foreign angry men. I know Gloria Steinem must care about this. Otherwise, WHO is she really supporting?

I've read 3 NPR articles on it , I find that they reported the information quite accurately and I'm glad their personal opinions did not enter their reporting. That's for Op Eds and Fox News. There were also similar assaults in other counties the same night, don't you care about those. No outrage for under reporting the Sweden and Helsinki attacks.

I think the main German news had to apologize for failing to report on this for five days while it kept running how some air gun went off at a refugee camp.!

Of course it was deleted, you silly goose. Hello? It doesn't fit the (il)liberal narrative. Now, if there was a mere glimmer that a Christian (on Christmas!!!) torched a mosque in, say, Houston, then Jeff would have posted it himself. See how that works? Hence the rise of Trump, a true creation of the progressive movement.

I was going to overlook the first time this false statement was made, but since you guys insist on being personal about it:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/523610.page

The thread was not deleted. The thread completely mischaracterized the event. Also, I was not the poster of the Houston mosque thread.

Most of you guys couldn't last a day here if your posts were not anonymous. Yet, you miss no opportunity to try to trash me by name. This is particularly irritating when you aren't even accurate in your accusations.

Then I apologize for calling you out by name. Anonymously but sincerely.

Links please. What has npr said about Muslim men sexually attacking European women? Of course it's not only in Germany and Austria. Of course it's also in Sweden and in other countries who allowed these barbarians in. Good for Denmark and Poland who said courageously said "no" to this insanity, in spite of relentless international pressure to swing open the flood gates. Now I know where I want to go on my next trip to Europe, thank you, and it ain't Germany, France or Sweden. At least not until they clean out the smut.

I'm a woman, glad to know I'm contemptuous of my own gender. Nothing wrong with pointing out the abject silence on this matter when I was subjected to frivolous complaint articles like "manspreading" the past months. When something truly horrific like this happens that really violates women rights there is no protest. I am glad at least the womens rights groups in Germany had the bravado to protest. By calling rude names you're part of the problem of shutting down conversation when womens rights are being violated.

Yes, you are part of the problem, and you seem to have zero problem continuing the conversation. Women's rights - big ones, like the sexual assaults in Germany, and small ones, the little daily ones that chip away at our mental energies happen every day. And conservatives, including you based on how you sound, delight in making sure women occupy their "proper," non-feminist place. I posted pages back: who the fuck cares who did it. Find and punish the criminals appropriately. The "who" is a huge Republican red herring. The "why" is important. Why do men feel, the world over, increasingly emboldened to commit heinous acts? To record them and share the video? Why do several jurisdictions still charge women for their own rape kits? Why is the mere suggestion that sexism is a contributing factor in unequal pay met with spittle and incoherency from Republican talking heads? Why are reproductive rights constantly under assault? Why?

Not PP, but you sound like an arrogant, self-righteous asshole. What exactly are your credentials for deciding who is a true feminist and who is not? I could just as easily say that you're part of the problem, since the fact that you come across as cartoonishly naïve and foolish makes women in general look bad, but I won't. Only because then I would be sinking to your level.

Despite your skepticism, I am a woman. And I have lived and traveled all over the world. Despite the rabid women studies major who insist on frothing at the mouth and calling me a conservative and rape kits and what not, you guys have absolutely no idea how wonderful it is to be an American woman living in the US, in what used to be then Europe (not so now), or in civilized 21st Century Asia. Of course it has been drilled in my heads to be aware in places, travel in packs etc etc.

However, you can't deny that where we live women can wear *gasp* sphaghetti straps, mid riffs, go to bars, work late, and GENERALLY expect not to be assaulted by large groups of men. In fact, we have it so good we are now supporting mixed gender bathrooms, not understanding the rationale for separate gender and in general how dangerous it was for women in history to actually to the bathroom. I can on a regular basis expect if I am in a public place at night with lights not be assaulted or groped, I can go out with my girl pals and get home at 2 am in general and not be mobbed. Noone bats an eyelid if I am in T shirt and jeans, in some of these cultures that's not "conservative" enough.

The freedom of mobility, and or action for women in these civilized countries are unprecedented. And frankly took decades of women fighting for their rights to be able to enjoy this. What happened on NYE in several European cities threatens this. Suddenly we are being told to stay home at night, stay in groups, dress conservatively? This is a slippery slope..and if we don't voice out our indignation there's no knowing where it ends.

We now have a few arrests of the Cologne migrant criminals, but only on theft charges and such. Nothing for the egregious sexual assault of countless women who were violated by the foreign mobs of "middle eastern" men.

Our outrage continues....
Still waiting for NPR.....
and Gloria and our fellow feminists to break their silence.
So many women are needing our vocal support.

Real feminists stand up for women whoever their attackers are. Cultural Marxists only stand up for women if they have been attacked by white men. Most of the people loudly proclaiming themselves Feminists here and in Europe seem to be the latter.

Yes. It's sad how many commenters' level of outrage depends on the ethnic/racial identity of the attackers.

Delightful! I'm an arrogant, self-righteous asshole according to an anti-feminist on the Internet! Which parts of my "definition" of feminism do you object to? Can you indicate which parts seem naive and foolish, so much so that I make all women look bad? Because you don't have any substance. You seem to deny to that rape culture and sexism exist here in the Western world, since it previously hasn't been as horrific. You pretend, because of Jezebel, I guess! that feminists aren't up in arms about the coordinated sexual assault on women. Good christ - pick up Ms. Magazine, any issue. They have been banging the gong for equal rights, large and small, near and far for decades. Visit the National Organization for Women, same. And conservatives? Call them ball-busting Feminazis.

So I say again, hopefully sketched out in classic, painterly shapes with the utmost in sophistication for you to be able to listen on my level: why now? Why are women's rights being chipped away at now? Revenge porn, she was asking for it, she decided to have that kid she should be poor, abortion is for stupid sluts, coordinated assaults, burkas - why now?

And what are you doing to stop it?
