How long will the shutdown last?

Sure. A wall/fence/barrier is a deterrent. I think the border patrol would see someone heading our way with a ten foot+ ladder in tow.

You people are ridiculous. And, you are ridiculous because you know damned well that walls/fences/physical barriers work. That is why the Dems have voted for such structures in the past. The only thing that has changed is that Trump is now president.

You yourself just admitted it takes people to stop them. The wall itself isn’t enough. So why billions of dollars for something that doesn’t work? Train more border police with that money.

Oh, FFS. Border agents are necessary. More of them would be great. A border wall COMBINED with border agents is the solution. Even the border agents say this. There are not enough border agents to stretch the border, Einstein.
Your arguments are getting more and more lame.

Why are you here arguing about the wall, when a compromise was already passed by Congress to build the wall?

Trump just would not sign off on it. Stop defending the idiot. He got the wall he wanted and then wouldn't sign off on it.

So they will scale the wall where there are no border agents.

People working without being paid is kind of the opposite of a strike.

AEDs don't work on their own. People still have to go to the hospital and be treated by doctors. Clearly that means we shouldn't waste money on putting AEDs all over the place. We should instead put that money into doctors.

Do you hear how ridiculous you are?

You do know that Congress did fund Trump's wall before Christmas, right?
Congress made compromises, as people do in civil societies and democracies.

Your precious wall could being being built as we type all this. But, no.
Trump shut down the government instead, and is now trying to turn it into a 'strike." It is a shutdown and everyone I know wants to get back to work!

This.

?? AEDs do work if someone knows how to use it.

The general alt-right response to why the Canadian healthcare system won't work for the US is that it can't be "scaled up" -- that when take something which can be funded, delivered, monitored and enforced on a small scale, it doesn't necessarily translate into something which can be done on a large scale.

Sometimes small issues at the small scale become insurmountable on a larger scale. For example, the issue of eminent domain is not usually an issue for building a fence or wall on your own property -- but it sure as hell is going to rear up if you are fencing off all of the southern border of the US, and exponentially so.

And, yes, President Trump has barriers around his properties. He also knows they work. That is why he is fighting to get the funding for a physical barrier.

And, all the drones and technology in the world won't work without a physical barrier. It is really that simple.
Drones help identify people who are heading toward our border.
We knew of the recent caravan of migrants heading toward our southern border (and we didn't need drones for that - they came with their own film crews). The only thing that stopped them from crossing our border and harming our border agents was.........wait for it.............A PHYSICAL BARRIER!!!

Now, we need such a barrier along those areas of our border that remain unprotected by one..... it will indeed help prevent people from entering illegally. It will also help with the flow of drugs, human smugglers, and criminals across our border.

It is difficult for many of us to understand why liberals have such opposition to a solutions that has proven effective.

Trump's walls around his own properties apparently worked so well that illegals were mysteriously found working there.

Thats why we have drones, motion detection cameras, etc. if they make it past the initial barrier. The point is primarily to keep them out. If they get over the wall, track them down. But don't start the defensive measures after they've waltzed right into the country.

Alrighty then. No hospitals needed. Forget the doctors! AEDs for all! That should reduce medical costs substantially!!!

Because they watch FoxNews and just parrot off what they hear.
