Honestly while it's supposed to work that way in practice it doesn't, at least in my experience. For example, if you look at Affirmative Action in college admittances it clearly benefits less qualified people on paper. Whether they're unqualified and whether having a broader range of opinions/viewpoints/experiences in a college environment outweighs demonstrably lower qualitative accomplishments is open to debate.

I will say that I have seen the "white males hire other white males" thing happen as well, but it's dying out IMO as some of the older managers retire.

Sure, and if the AA community was "a little more delinquent in their activities" I don't think this would be that big of an issue. Having a murder rate 8-10 times normal isn't a little more delinquent.

If 50% of AA males in DC have or will commit a crime v what...25% of white males, I feel justified to fear being victim of crime by an AA male more than a white male. I feel 0 fear of being robbed by an alien. I also have 0 fear of being robbed by my AA pediatrician. This is rational behavior.
If you don't like the numbers, work to change them. Same story for educational achievements: people don't like the achievement gap stats so they say we have to look at the individual; sure we have to do that on a personal basis, but when discussing policy you can't look at individuals, you look at the aggregate numbers.

In DC it's probably 1-2% but that's hardly a fair comparison because of the demographics of the city. Nationally about 1 in 17 white males will spend time in prison.
