Landon beat BL in a scrimmage 12 - 6. BUT if you look a little closer you may not have known that Boys Latin pulled their starters at half time. (BL was winning 5 - 3) Landon played starters into the 4th quarter. Gonzaga was beating Calvert Hall 5 - 3 at half. Both teams pulled many starters. Bullis was up 9 - 4 on Severn in the 3rd qtr and Severn scored 6 of the next 8 goals I don't know if starters were still playing.

| This thread is pretty shocking. I cannot believe grown adults are tracking all of the students and at these different schools and their lax progress. Does anyone else find this really creepy? Is there a correlation between jerky parents and jerky lax players? |
How do these lax parents know so much about these other players at other schools? They know their names, their position, what college they may attend after high school. I have no idea about any players at other schools in my child’s sport except the few he has been on travel teams with. |
| Loooooooosers! |
We don't have a son but I will say that most of the private school girls lacrosse players have been at the same tournaments and in the same leagues for years so you get to know who is who. Also our child went to one private for middle and is now at a different high school so she knows the girls from her old team very well (and so do we). It's a small community in many ways. I would never call out specific girls by name on here but when talking to parents on the sidelines we do know which team has strong players from different clubs. Some of these dads take it to a whole other level though! |
| I would bet that kids on the same club team and their parents share info on how each high school is performing. Accuracy may be lacking. It is doubtful that any one person is attending 3 scrimmages over the weekend. (Then again lax parents are little crazy) |
| you would be surprised how many current students post on this website. |
| The lacrosse world is very, very small. If your kid plays for a serious club team, from the time he or she is in middle school you spend a large portion of your year at fall games and tournaments, winter indoor games/box league games, winter clinics, college prospect days, spring league games and endless summer tournaments. Everyone knows everyone else, every kid, every school, every club program and in many cases each kid's college prospects. Its not different from other sports in that regard but there are much fewer players and top teams. You get to know everyone quickly. As you enter high school it becomes even smaller as only the most serious kids persist. |
Prep squeaks by SJC tomorrow but loses to Severn on Friday Gonzaga whoops up on the Heights tomorrow and wins by a few against STA on Friday. Bullis destroys Calverton as well as Navy Prep later in the week. Landon beats PVI in a close one and beats St. Pauls from Baltimore in another close game. Let the games begin! |

Prep by 3 over St John's
GZ by 9 over the heights Bullis by 8 over Calverton Landon by 7 over Paul VI |
| St Marys of Annapolis defeated St John's (DC) 14 - 4 yesterday in the season opener for both teams. St John's ended last season on a very high note, but I belief they have lost too many players to graduation and they will drop to 4th or 5th in conference. |

St marys is pretty good this year and will surprise several teams in the MIAA.
I thought SJC would have made the game a bit closer but maybe they loss too much to graduation. SJC will still finish in the top half of the Catholic League. |
Pivoting away from HS team discussion for a moment.....hoping that the board will be kind to indulge me with some advice.
DS is in 6th grade and has been playing travel soccer with lacrosse as a secondary sport, playing at the A (not AAA) level in our local club LAX, largely due to the practice commitment/likelihood of game conflicts for AAA. His passion for soccer is fading and he's interested in pivoting to LAX as his primary sport. We live inside the beltway in NOVA and would prefer an alternative to MadLax for a variety of reasons. What clubs/programs should he consider for training / team play? Any private coaches you'd suggest to help him ramp up his skills? TIA. |
Great question! I also want to know what good clubs are in northern VA. But why are you against MadLax? |
