We are ALLOWED to talk about all the different factors that are involved with that system racism and how there are MANY facets that play into racism against Asians and, in particular to this thread, Asian children.

If Black people are uncomfortable with all these various facets, some of which include them, then they need to learn, grow, educate themselves and sit in their own discomfort.

Becoming an anti-racist is not an easy process.

Have you read the thread? of course Asians should talk about Asian issues but spouting untrue facts about Blacks to build your case is not the way to do that... Some Asian posters were flame throwing. The actual facts from Harvard documents are now in the thread. Complain about the 62 point disparity in average scores all you like but the previously posted 140 point disparity was a lie. If Asian people want to use "various facets" they should use correct information, and then they need to learn, grow , educate themselves and sit in their own discomfort. It is racist to use fake information about one race to magnify Asian abilities or scores.

If what you say is true of course that is wrong. Perhaps there is a misunderstanding. According to the Harvard Crimson over a 18 year period Asian American admits averaged 767 out of 800 (since the SAT is out of 1600 that would be 1534 out of 1600). African American admits averaged 704 out of 800 which would be 1408 out of 1600. This is a difference of 126 points. Just for some perspective a score of 1400 is around the 85th percentile for Asian American test takers.
It goes without saying that there are no racial differences in intelligence and There are many structural reasons for this wide gulf but these are the facts Having said that SAT scores do indicate a student’s readiness for college level work and at a top 20 school the bar for readiness should be incredibly high

Yes all racism is bad. As many pps have pointed out Asian Americans are the only group in America that can be discriminated against and tarred with negative stereotypes. It is for some reason socially acceptable and that is wrong and it is damaging to Asian American kids.

Yes, but it’s for the the greater good. Blacks were slaves. African black sellers, European whites buyers including Jews, profited off of their backs. Now Asians, 200 years later - as a down payment for the opportunity to be “Americans“ - need to step forward and bear the bulk of the burden for the sin of the forefathers. Sounds fair too me.

I don't know if this was sarcasm or not, but it's clearly an ignorant post as it shows a complete lack of understanding of how Asians have been in the US for two hundred years and also faced discrimination by white people. You are saying Asian Am. should suffer the "sins of the forefathers" then and now, but not black people. This is the problem with a biased American education.

It was another Asian flame thrower. ..

The flame thrower’s point is blacks can’t compete fairly and squarely. That’s why you need a quota. In school and in life.

If blacks had to compete based merit, there might be a few black students at Harvard. Think caltech, mit, Oxford, Cambridge. Very few blacks.

and how does this help Asians? And the history is wrong. Is the point that Asian want only Asian at Harvard based on a no quickly disappearing standard? Why stop at Blacks when every other racial group has lower scores. the school is only 18% STEM and 7% premed so a lot of Asians would have to do liberal arts ... is that the point?

Don’t admit being Asian or half Asian. I worked part-time and 1 summer at a local state university, in the admissions office. I learned fast and heard numerous discussions- Asians are held to higher expectations. Especially females. I am a white male BTW.

Except STEM and premed are very small majors departments so I sure it would not look like MIT, or Caltech. There are not a lot of Asian at Oxbridge

Asians have come out in large numbers in support of BLM. There are many Asian groups that put together peaceful protests in support, the thousands in the health care sector all took a knee, during the tear gas debacle in DC it was an Indian American man that opened his doors to over 70 protestors into his home to escape the police and tear gas.

Asians can talk about racism against them, that doesn't make them racist. This is not an either or situation. You are either Anti-Racist or Racist. Doesn't matter your skin color. You are either condoning the practice of racism where others races profit off the racism of another, or you are against it.

I think the schools are capable of determining from themselves what constitutes readiness but sure go ahead and substitute your judgment. Thinking that one should only take the top x% of scores on the SAT is only one way, and probably the most simplistic, way of using SAT scores.

Gee, no racism exists in America though.

Look, you can always find a job elsewhere. You’ll have plenty of white privilege opportunities. But what about the people from the hood with no handouts?

If you want to dwell on the on the 'flame throwing' Asians, then you are just looking for excuses to continue being racist. There are bad apples in every bunch and as much as America wants to believe that Asians are a monolithic, robotic breed, we are vastly different and have our own thoughts.

You can use your energy to hate on all Asians because of them or you can use your energy to support anti-racism for all people.

I posted the facts and repeatedly said I do not have a problem with Asians, Whites or Blacks. I also do not think life is fair and sometimes people do not a job or acceptance even though they are qualified. i value diversity even though it worked against my female child when applying to college. But she went to another school and so far has had a wonderful experience. As a family we have moved on.

But you are clearly not an ivy material. You have nothing to lose.

Ha ha. And that is because I have typos on a message board?? Many poster sound like immigrants... Evan a moron knows that Blacks have been in the US for more than 400 years. There are tons of legacies that move on when their kid does not get in at all top American schools. Sometimes in one family some kids get in and some don’t ... the families move on. There is no basis for that assumption at all.
