Ok, 5 out of 500 gives you 1% in a country where blacks make up 15% of the population.

yep and there were 10 asian at mostly smaller companies. But I don't have a problem with Asians, Whites, Latinos or Blacks. I also do not have a problem with holistic admissions. I am glad that my kids know that you win some and lose some but you get up and move forward. Life goes on and can be very good. Lots of places to go to school and lots of ways to earn a great living. You are just angry at Black people which is funny since it was not created by or for Black people.

This thread is not about any anger towards black people. Nice deflection. Why wouldn’t you say the same thing to black people? Hey lighten up, you win some you lose some. Try other schools if your scores aren’t good enough. Why ask for special preference? I mean you’ve even got plenty of black colleges and universities to choose from. Why complain about the unfair treatment that’s waged against you in our society?. Move forward.

This thread is about racism against Asians. Keep up and try to broaden your worldview beyond black and white.

Black people already do that, we could not go to White schools so we built our own. If you read this thread there are people posting about black outcomes, black intelligence and black qualifications. They are saying that black people do not deserve their spot at Harvard and therefore the world discounts their degrees. Moreover someone keeps posting that blacks have bad outcomes who go to Harvard.

This post does not amplify Asian qualifications beyond saying that as a group they have high SAT scores and then someone post that black Harvard students have some ridiculously low score (not an accurate score). So the post is very negative about Blacks. And honestly it’s not positive about Asians. It makes Asians look angry at Blacks and bitter. If you can’t see how this would be disturbing to Blacks ... I don’t know what to say.

You missed the big picture. As blacks need affirmative action in college, they also need affirmative action in life after college. In fact, they need affirmative action from the cradle to the grave. Fire 🔥 all these Karens in the corporate America. There’s so many Karens out there that this simple action will be enough to make room for blacks to move into their new positions. BLM. Don’t just say it. Mean it.

I did not miss any point. I just do not understand how Asians think bashing Blacks will improve their own circumstances. Why must they focus on tearing down Blacks.

Asians fighting blacks for the scraps that white people deign to leave us is their dream. Asian complaining about “unqualified” blacks getting into college masks the reality of not only unqualified whites getting into college but even less qualified whites benefitting from every other advantage throughout their lives.

I knew a ton of 80s bands and that’s why I deserve my success. Seriously?

+1000 this whole thread is about Asian tearing down Blacks and not understanding that they are fighting about scraps and experience discrimination.

This whole thread (though it veered off into focusing on Blacks at some point) is about Asians and the systemic discrimination they face.

This thread is about ASIANS. The OP is pondering whether her child should hide her identity in this country because her identity, her race, her ancestry is discriminated against due to systemic racism.

We are ALLOWED to talk about all the different factors that are involved with that system racism and how there are MANY facets that play into racism against Asians and, in particular to this thread, Asian children.

If Black people are uncomfortable with all these various facets, some of which include them, then they need to learn, grow, educate themselves and sit in their own discomfort.

Becoming an anti-racist is not an easy process.

Who is tearing down blacks? You need to tear down the old system - with hammer - to bring about a new system. 15% ceos in corporate America. This means you need to destroy the status quo, get rid of these old farts to make room for the new 15%. And we aren’t talking only 15% ceos. We are talking 15% in everything else - in law, healthcare, entertainment, sports... Think the NBA, the NFL... For this, you need a hammer 🔨 to destroy the status quo.

You want the NBA and NFL to only be 15% black?

And how about Jews at 2% at Harvard and Nobel prizes, to mirror their natural population.

Yes all racism is bad. As many pps have pointed out Asian Americans are the only group in America that can be discriminated against and tarred with negative stereotypes. It is for some reason socially acceptable and that is wrong and it is damaging to Asian American kids.

Have you read the thread? of course Asians should talk about Asian issues but spouting untrue facts about Blacks to build your case is not the way to do that... Some Asian posters were flame throwing. The actual facts from Harvard documents are now in the thread. Complain about the 62 point disparity in average scores all you like but the previously posted 140 point disparity was a lie. If Asian people want to use "various facets" they should use correct information, and then they need to learn, grow , educate themselves and sit in their own discomfort. It is racist to use fake information about one race to magnify Asian abilities or scores.

So the solution is to provide a 'holistic' review process that's essentially docking or adding points to people's review packages based in their race in order to reach a diversity quota. If coporate America and US education do it, then the sports industry should be forced to do it as well. Sports teams get all sorts of public assistance in the form of taxbreaks, tax money, and public safety staff like police who enforce safety and traffic control. Therefore, sports teams should be required to use a holistic process to draft players for their team and not draft players exclusively based in their talent alone. The NBA should be forced to give extra points to white and Asian players during the draft process because they're underrepresented in that multibillion dollar industry in the same way Google does it.

It is wrong but exaggerating disparities with Black scores does not help Asian avoid discrimination. It plays directly into stereotypes....

If you want to dwell on the on the 'flame throwing' Asians, then you are just looking for excuses to continue being racist. There are bad apples in every bunch and as much as America wants to believe that Asians are a monolithic, robotic breed, we are vastly different and have our own thoughts.

You can use your energy to hate on all Asians because of them or you can use your energy to support anti-racism for all people.

Yes, but it’s for the the greater good. Blacks were slaves. African black sellers, European whites buyers including Jews, profited off of their backs. Now Asians, 200 years later - as a down payment for the opportunity to be “Americans“ - need to step forward and bear the bulk of the burden for the sin of the forefathers. Sounds fair too me.

Fascinating article about how little test prep matters. Also shows that large numbers from every racial group attend prep courses.

I posted the facts and repeatedly said I do not have a problem with Asians, Whites or Blacks. I also do not think life is fair and sometimes people do not a job or acceptance even though they are qualified. i value diversity even though it worked against my female child when applying to college. But she went to another school and so far has had a wonderful experience. As a family we have moved on.

I don't know if this was sarcasm or not, but it's clearly an ignorant post as it shows a complete lack of understanding of how Asians have been in the US for two hundred years and also faced discrimination by white people. You are saying Asian Am. should suffer the "sins of the forefathers" then and now, but not black people. This is the problem with a biased American education.
