Kept quiet until after the election so make sure Pat O'Neill and Judy Docca were re-elected.

Thank you Washington Post editorial board. Now please keep digging. MCPS is ALL about image. Here are some suggestions for you and your reporters:

1.) Check out publicly available legal records on MCPS staff, and you will be shocked how many people in the system have major problems yet still get to teach or coach.
2.) There are people inside the system who know what’s really happening, so start contacting people individually and letting them comment off the record. Some will be grateful to be given the chance to speak up.
3.) Talk to coaches and teachers who have left the system and who feel freer to talk.
4.) Find recent graduates of these athletic programs and let them talk off the record.
5.) Collect examples of things people say happened but that were not reported. I suspect you’ll discover many discrepancies between incidents and forms like reports——-
The press is the best hope here.

I hope this gets more attention and there is enough pressure on MCPS to enact some serious consequences.

Glad WaPo is looking into this.

Was there another assault?

Yes. MCPS is being tightlipped on what happened at Seneca Valley in September but multiple news outlets are reporting another possible hazing with a "physical altercation" in the locker room.

Link please

Read the article.

You think 3 guys raped 4 people in 1 incident.

No. One got raped on 10/31 and was brave and came forward. The other 3 will be past events, students that came forward as part of the investigation.

There are more, msybe they will come forward.

Broomstick sodomy is how they treat their team mates? Yikes.

Seems kinda gay and kinky. Is someone standing nearby in a gimp suit too? WTF?!

I'll never think the same of Damascus again. {cue up dueling banjos}

Not remotely similar.

Sex assault is sex assault.

No sexual assault was reported. The kid was hit in the face. Not okay. Also gropping and a broom shoved up your ass is not the same.

The police lied?

"The new case in Montgomery County involved students at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown. Capt. Paul Starks, a Montgomery County police spokesman, said the agency investigated allegations of unwanted sexual touching among football players at the school on Sept. 18."

My take as staff?
Here are a few reasons:
Too many superintendents in the last several years
Ineffective Board of Ed
Too top heavy—principals have been turned into puppets, mid level managers
All systems are designed to reward everything BUT ability
The background checks are lacking
They let people work who have no business being around kids, ie DUI and domestic violence issues, plus financial impropriety
The culture and climate within the schools is pretty bad because central people keep handing down ridiculous new tasks
Principals are mid level managers, not leaders

I truly believe you are staff, you are articulating from the inside what as a parent, I see on the outside. It does appear to be too top heavy, I've always gotten the feeling that there were too many chiefs and not enough indians, that everything rolled down to the teachers and they are the ones that have to constantly jump through ever changing hoops. I never had the feeling that the principal was in charge or had any autonomy.

Cancel Montgomery County High School football for one year, or at least until they can get all these assaults investigated and get the all perpetrators OUT.

All sport players should have to complete anonymous surveys regarding their safety, and if it has ever been threatened. And name the aggressors.
