MCPS is supposed to be rolling out a program they labeled as Trauma Informed Care. Staff development teachers are a key component of how MCPS is providing the staff training. Staff development teachers and others at the school are trained first, then they are in charge of training the school staff at their school. It is separate from the mandatory online training teachers take. With the Trauma Informed Care program, school staff are supposed to be alerted to the red flags of trauma in children as well as referrals for help and interventions that would be appropriate. The staff who also received tge initial training are also supposed to be a resource when cases arise in schools. |
The personal body safety lesson was originally written by a couple counselors with no curriculum experience. It was so horrifically bad and inappropriate that most of the counselors refused to use it. The head of MCPS counseling pulled it without implementing it and now they use something totally different. In general, everyone needs to figure this all out. What does the staff development teacher do versus the counselors versus outside experts etc., and how can everyone in MCPS ensure they’re using quality materials. |
You just pointed out that you don't know how to search case files. Pat O'Neill thrives on staff who cover up the sexual abuse of students. The Damascus HS teachers and administrators all know this happened. Which one of them reported? (Sounds like the Larry Nasser case, eh?) Staff who cover up these sexual assaults are part of the problem. Why don't you ask them why they covered this up? Why are you covering it up? |
I also asked how do I find the case without knowing the staff member’s name? I’m motivated to look. I teach for MCOS and am also a parent and a CSA survivor. Please tell me how to search without the names. I have used MD Casesearch before. |
Didn’t we just have nationally televised hearings that dismissed sexual assaults as boys being boys? Don’t we cheer for professional athletes who batter women? School is a tiny part of your child’s life. Your child is steeped in a culture of gendered violence the other 18 hours a day. |
And here I thought you were simply stupid; turns out unhinged would be a better description. I am covering something up? By not accosting O'Neill and Damascus teachers? Alrighty then. And I pointed out that I do know how to search case files and therefore know that they can't be searched based on the information you provided. If you had a clue about how docketing systems work you would realize this, but it seems you just want to howl at the moon. |

I am a different poster. PP could you share specific information with Kevin Lewis at ABC news (I think his email is in this thread). If there are court records to prove the case, he would have enough information to do the story. The victim could retain anonymity under that scenario vs. posting names on DCUM.

I searched under "company" and put in Mont. Co Pub Schools, but 20 or so pages popped up. nothing from 2018 connected, however |
This is part of the reason searching a docket based on 'inappropriate teacher student interactions' would be futile. Plus, you would probably be looking for a criminal case where the county wouldn't be a party. If the student filed a civil case, the county would probably be named along with the teacher, but either could be listed first or as the et al, which might not show depending on the specifics of the case file system and search capabilities. |
| Any word on what the school plans to do re: the coaches/admin team? You don’t need a completed police investigation to make personnel changes. |
|
Rumor has it that Damascus HS principal is personally contacting the parents of the JV team to field any questions. Perhaps this means that MCPS has the green light to speak freely and news regarding "changes" to may come soon.
Then again this may mean the county has decided to placated the parents and nothing with change. |
Interesting. Is she talking to the community as a whole too? |
MCPS was given the green light by the police weeks ago when the police closed their investigation. I find it interesting that the principal isn't having a community forum to discuss not only the locker room incident but also the bathroom incident. The Damascus community as a whole needs answers for healing to begin. The Damascus community as a whole needs to know what the school administration and the athletic department are going to do to improve the climate to promote respect of all students. The principal and MCPS are cowards by not being transparent and honest with parents. They are clueless as to what the next steps should be just like they were clueless on how to prevent the nightmare that has befallen our kids. |
| What’s the word on this at Damascus? Any formal conversations? |
|
Finally, SEVEN weeks later the investigation has broadened to include the entire program to see if this was indeed ritualized hazing. Even if there were no rapes in the past, I firmly believe the threat of rape (brooming) has been around for years.
Also on Fox News a few nights ago they reported that a security guard at Damascus has been fired stemming from this. I guess shit rolls downhill at Damascus. |
