Political Discussion
| Let alone media suppression, look at what happened on dcum. First Jeff deleted the first thread on this topic because the topic was "provoking" and the content grossly wrong. As subsequent threads popped up the response was "but American men do this too". If that is the response on a left leaning forum, what say the liberal media. Media suppression in this instance has been a huge disgrace and a blackeye to them. I think the main German news had to apologize for failing to report on this for five days while it kept running how some air gun went off at a refugee camp.! |
| Those asylum seekers should be deported asap. Full stop. |
If the "feminists" such as Jezebel magazine don't comment on this and condemn it out rightly, they've pretty much lost whatever little credibility they have left with their "outrage" feminism journalism. |
If they do comment now, it's due to public flak and means nothing |

It amazes me how Americans are eating up the right wing populist rhetoric so easily.
Once again women's bodies are instrumentalized by the far right to make anti refugee politics. Every year hundreds of women are victims of sexual violence at Oktoberfest and Karneval. To the person who did the numbers earlier (I don't know where that was and won't look for it): great, you found the statistics, now use your common sense. First, sadly, most women don't report rapes to the police. The number of rapes at Oktoberfest alone are about 200 per week. Now add all the other fests and karneval. If we want to talk about culture-specific norms, what does that say about our supposedly so good and innocent German boys? It's been a problem for decades and nobody cares. But now that the evil brown people are raping German women we suddenly generally care about this issue? Give me a break. Also, Koeln newspapers reported on this right after it happened. The media was not "suppressing" it, but I guess the conspiracy theorists immediately came out of the woodwork to spread that lie. And pretty much ALL prominent German feminists are speaking out against it. So what's your point? Yes, it's a feminist issue, yes it's shitty, but make no mistake this is being blown up the way it is to serve the extreme right. Women's bodies are only being used for that purpose and THAT is rape culture right there. |
200 rapes per week? Cite please. It sounds as if you are making things up. Most people are getting their information about this horrific event are getting it from places like BBC, not even remotely a right wing propaganda machine. Are you so blinded by som strange ideology that you are going to make up things to minimize how horrible AND preventable these new years eve attacks were? |
For me, what separates these attacks from the usual shittiness of sexual predators is that it was a planned and coordinated effort. |
|
I guess if you want progressives to care about this you have to make up a story that it was done at an elite Southern school by lacrosse players (!!) or a fraternity (!!).
|
+1 That is the alarming aspect, aside from the actual crimes, mass targeting of women, whether they were alone or in groups, by large groups of men. The rapes occurring at Oktoberfest are shameful, but are on an individual basis, rather than planned beforehand and en masse, as the New Years Eve attacks were. If 10-20 men start acting together to rob and molest women, without consequence, might they rapidly escalate from there? Then there is the plight of the refugee girls, who are attacked far more viciously without any protection. |
Of course it was deleted, you silly goose. Hello? It doesn't fit the (il)liberal narrative. Now, if there was a mere glimmer that a Christian (on Christmas!!!) torched a mosque in, say, Houston, then Jeff would have posted it himself. See how that works? Hence the rise of Trump, a true creation of the progressive movement. |
I was going to overlook the first time this false statement was made, but since you guys insist on being personal about it: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/523610.page The thread was not deleted. The thread completely mischaracterized the event. Also, I was not the poster of the Houston mosque thread. Most of you guys couldn't last a day here if your posts were not anonymous. Yet, you miss no opportunity to try to trash me by name. This is particularly irritating when you aren't even accurate in your accusations. |
Look at Finnish reports. Scary |
Newsflash, dickhead: your contempt for women - especially those with the temerity to be feminists! - is part and parcel of the attacks in Germany. Which is to say: on a continuum of rape culture, you're part of the problem. |
This is laughable. You sound like you just walked out of your women's studies 101 final. The people who actually used and abused women's bodies in this case are the sexual assaulters, not those of us commenting. Somewhere deep down inside you must know this. |
