House of the Dragon - Game of Thrones spinoff (SPOILERS)

I thought Rhaenyra’s sons were closer in age to her brothers. Anyone know who the little boy in the next episode trailer is? Does Daemon have an illegitimate child and is that why we saw his ex in this episode?

I don’t know—I wondered the same. But I’m not understanding how a bastard son would be as shocking/relevant as they make it seem given that he’d have no claim to the throne? I guess if it showed he’d been unfaithful to Rhaenyra.

I like her but do think she could use some of the sass conveyed by the younger actress.

She’s ok but the first one could have carried the part with a little bit of aging makeup.

I heard the young one was barely 18 and not very comfortable with naked scenes.

She's 22, and I think she's had the most nude scenes thus far.

I think the audience would have had a hard time adjusting. I don't find either actress hugely attractive. I would like to see a little more of the spirit Rhaenyra had in the first episodes. I feel like the current actress doesn't have much fire.

I thought the first Alicent was better in some ways than Olivia Cooke. Olivia Cooke plays Alicent as cray cray.

I think they are making Rhaenyra less spirited on purpose. Many women lose their fire and ambition as they get older, especially after they have kids and their priorities change. I think they tried to show this in the scene where she was crying with her father. I do think in the final episodes of the season she is going to lose one if not more of her children and that will cause her to get her fire back.

Could the blonde kid be a bastard of Aegon? He clearly was sleeping around.

That would actually make more sense, although still no claim if he's illegitimate...

New Rhaenyra has 90% less smirk

Aegon and the girl (?) were I think 3 and 1 in the last episode before the age-up, which is when Rhaenyra married. I think her oldest and Aemond (Alicent’s third) are about the same age.

The writing is just getting worse and worse - I miss the writing from GOT. Most of the characters are really one dimensional. The Hightowers are evil but not interesting like the Lannisters.

I have to watch the recap after every episode to figure out what is going on. It’s awful. I probably won’t stop watching but I’m hating every minute of it.

I'm the poster above you and I agree I'll keep watching but it is really terrible. Maybe this is why DB and Dave didn't want to do it.

I wouldn't call it terrible but it's definitely not as good as GOT, which is disappointing. Agree that they need to inject a bit of humor or *something* to lighten the mood. So dark and depressing.

Still feeling disappointed with how the Rhaenyra character changed after the age up. The younger version was much more charismatic and interesting. Daemon is probably my favorite character now and he's not exactly what I'd call likable...

I also watch them for the same reason.

At least this episode turned up the lights.

I kept asking my husband last week if there was something wrong with the display on our TV. Finally realized it was intentional.
