Exactly. And to the PP who said there was no one else and she was a body to fill the slot. They said they had 72 candidates so that’s more BS. |
I just can't believe so many people are trashing this woman without giving her a chance and without knowing anything about her based solely on a news release. By all accounts, she has done a great job in her current job, she was Superintendent of the Year last year, and she has increased her current district's focus on STEM as well as literacy. Isn't that what we all want? Why focus on equity when she has done A LOT?
Stop complaining and give her a chance, I think she's going to be great. |
Thank you. We have the same thing with our town council and yet they all wear their party affiliations on their sleeves (cough, Facebook pages, cough). |
Since I don’t know Dr. Reid at present I have a much more favorable opinion about her than I do of the current School Board. What happened last night was an embarrassing spectacle, with most of the School Board members making it very clear that they care less about our kids’ education than making sure they constantly check off the boxes needed to keep them in good standing with the special interest groups, whether it’s the Fairfax NAACP, Pride Liberation, or the “equity”-obsessed types who dominate the FCDC and control the endorsements for School Board races.
I challenge anyone to watch Abrar Omeish’s rambling speech last night and not come away saying to themselves “WTF is this silly narcissist talking about and what does it have to do with FCPS?” The only saving grace was Pekarsky muttering “oh boy” on a hot mic as Omeish launched into her lengthy spiel. |
72 candidates but which of them were actually qualified? |
Her Oh boy seemed to be clealry explained as she then when on to say that she had to follow that. It sounded as if she admired what Omeish said or at least was impressed with how she said it. Not oh boy, I disagree. |
That is definitley what he said. |
That's the problem right there. It doesn't matter who the superintendent is. The reality is that the current SB is largely a collection of clowns who politically posture for themselves and don't care one ounce about the actual school kids. |
Yeah, no. It was definitely more of a “here she goes again” type of “oh boy.” Just because Omeish and Pekarsky ridicule Brabrand and Frisch behind their backs doesn’t mean Pekarsky hangs on every word Omeish says. They are pretty much all back-stabbers. |
Sad but true. |
I'm the first PP, and I just wanted to fix my typo.... Brabrand told the Board it WOULD NOT work for staffing (to allow every teacher and student to choose virtual vs in person). But I think we are in agreement. Brabrand was trying to keep schools open in fall 2020. |
You believe that? I’m not sure if I do. I wonder if the other woman was the top choice but voluntarily withdrew at the 11th hour. |
He might have been "trying" but he gave in. He also gave in to ALL their requests to cancel or delay school. Recall that even virtual school was delayed by weeks that Fall. WHY? Was it a surprise to any of them that school (virtual or not) had to open its doors at the end of August? But they all spent the summer doing who knows what and took away even more days from the students of FCPS for "planning". The entire thing was a joke and Brabrand may have had ok intentions but he was way too nice for his own good and folded to them at every turn. |
And he allowed them to have Monday off all year. Good thing learning loss "isn't a thing" according to the woke mob. https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2021/03/10/what-learning-loss-really-means/ |
Push-leeze. Anyone watching work sessions last summer knows fcps was frantically trying to get back the thousands of students they lost. Every kid who leaves means less money for them to waste on consultants, poorly managed infrastructure and zoom speeches informing them that they are racist. |
